POSITION SUMMARY

Performs housekeeping and floor cleaning services to maintain an attractive, clean, comfortable, and safe environment for residents, guests and staff and performs various laundry duties following Mather LifeWays procedures and standards of performance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Inspects floors and furniture in the common areas for cleaning needs.
  • Performs a variety of tasks to clean all type of floors. Vacuums, spot cleans and shampoos carpeted areas; sweeps, mops and disinfects floors with sanitizer; scrubs floors to remove stains; buffs and waxes hard flooring types in resident apartments and common areas.
  • Cleans upholstery to remove dirt, stains and odors.
  • Cleans/washes and properly stores supplies and equipment after use.
  • Maintains inventory of cleaning materials
  • Safely operates various types of cleaning equipment
  • Responds to resident requests and promptly reports situations requiring follow-up
  • Follows established procedures for use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promptly notifies supervisor or appropriate staff of equipment problems or irregularities
  • Maintains clean and orderly work area
  • Creates meaningful moments in the lives of residents, visitors, and staff by demonstrating EMI (eliminating my impossibilities) behaviors
  • Performs routine cleaning and sanitizing tasks in resident homes and common areas
  • Recognizes and promptly notifies supervisor or appropriate staff of low supply levels, maintenance problems and unsafe acts or conditions; demonstrates responsible use and management of supplies, chemical, equipment and utilities
  • Coordinates daily housekeeping and floor cleaning services with other departments
  • As needed, perform duties of Laundry and Housekeeping

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Required:

  • Written and verbal communication skills to understand and follow instructions and interact effectively with residents and coworkers
  • Fast worker with a good eye for detail who can quickly spot and resolve problems
  • Good working knowledge of proper chemicals used to clean floor, carpet and furniture surfaces
  • Able to push heavy equipment, commercial carpet extractors and cleaning carts, stand and walk for most work shifts, and get down on hands and knees to scrub stains
  • Attention to detail – detail-oriented, have an eye for spotting problems and small imperfections in floors
  • Mechanical ability – work with electric floor machines, some mechanical ability is essential to this job
  • Problem-solving skills – use problem-solving skills to address flooring issues when they occur
