Are you ready to take the next step in your editing career? As an Assistant Editor at MasterClass, you’ll support the post-production process by preparing sequences for sound, color, and VFX, organizing media, and maintaining project files. This role offers the chance to develop technical skills in Adobe Premiere and other tools while contributing to high-quality content that reaches millions.
At MasterClass, you’ll collaborate with experienced editors, producers, and creatives, gaining valuable hands-on experience and insight into professional workflows. If you’re detail-oriented, eager to learn, and passionate about content creation, we’d love to hear from you.
What You Will Do:
- Prepare sequences for sound, color, VFX, and final delivery of marketing materials, including trailers and short-form social media content.
- Assist editors with editing tasks, such as overcutting reference media with high-resolution assets and assembling straight-lift clips.
- Organize and manage the media library, ensuring server organization, proper file management, and adherence to brand guidelines.
- Troubleshoot technical issues in post-production workflows, including relinking offline media and resolving remote editing challenges.
- Locate, package, and upload requested media or assets for publication, vendors, or partners.
- Ingest and prep media from on-set captures and external sources, building organized project files with proxies attached.
- Collaborate with producers, editors, and creative leads to streamline workflows and troubleshoot processes for new projects.
- Complete essential documentation, such as licensing and music cue sheets, for marketing assets.
- Maintain high-quality standards across all projects, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail from logging to delivery.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Adobe Premiere, with bonus skills in After Effects, Photoshop, and audio software.
About You (Requirments)
- Strong understanding of editorial techniques, with a solid foundation in post-production workflows and best practices.
- Proficient in Adobe Premiere and Media Encoder, with bonus skills in After Effects, Photoshop, and audio tools.
- Familiarity with server-based editorial systems, shared storage solutions, and asset management processes.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects effectively.
- Quick learner with a proactive, can-do attitude and a commitment to delivering high-quality work on time.
- Collaborative team player who works seamlessly with producers, editors, and assistant editors, contributing to a positive and productive environment.

The salary range listed is for NYC/CA/WA. As a company, we have a location based strategy, which means the disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled.
MasterClass’s salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry. In addition to salary, we also offer equity and comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, vision, flexible PTO, and more).
