Snapshot Of The Role:

The Senior Video Editor will be responsible for executing high-quality video edits for Creative Studio Marketing projects, including but not limited to Class Launches, Campaigns, and Enterprise videos. This role requires working under tight deadlines while delivering compelling narratives that align with MasterClass standards and perform exceptionally in the market. The Senior Video Editor will lead by example in maintaining the highest filmmaking standards and ensuring creative direction aligns with the MasterClass brand.

 

What You Will Do: 

Editorial:

  • Execute editorial duties precisely and efficiently, ensuring timely content delivery, including Class Launches, Campaigns, and Enterprise videos.
  • Craft compelling narratives that meet MasterClass standards and perform well in the market.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of motion graphics, post-production workflows, and collaborative editing within Premiere Pro and After Effects.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and innovative editing techniques.
  • Ensure the creative direction aligns with MasterClass branding and effectively communicates the team’s narrative across all assets.

Leadership:

  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team culture, leading editors and motion graphics artists with empathy, efficiency, and an understanding of startup and remote work environments.
  • Prioritize tasks, multitask effectively, and adapt quickly to changing directions and deadlines.
  • Mentor team members and support team development.

Stakeholder / Cross-Functional Support:

  • Collaborate with analytics counterparts to adapt content based on data insights.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of audience needs and motivations to create effective and engaging content.
  • Provide and receive feedback regularly, facilitating smooth communication between the post-production team and Creative Directors.
  • Present and iterate on projects within defined parameters, including goals, budgets, and time constraints.
  • Integrate stakeholder feedback into edits while preserving the integrity of the storytelling.
  • Ensure all content is optimized for performance and engagement across all MasterClass channels.

 

About You:

Proven Experience in Video Editing:

  • Strong background in executing high-quality edits for Class Launches, Campaigns, Enterprise videos, or similar marketing content.

Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro:

  • Must be highly skilled in Adobe Premiere Pro and deeply understand motion graphics and post-production workflows.

Expertise in Narrative Storytelling:

  • Demonstrated ability to craft compelling, engaging narratives that align with brand standards and resonate with audiences.

Trailer Editing Experience:

  • Proven experience editing short-form marketing content, particularly trailers, that perform well in the market.

Knowledge of Industry Best Practices:

  • Up-to-date understanding of innovative editing techniques and industry standards.

Leadership Skills:

  • Ability to lead by example, mentor team members, and foster a collaborative and supportive team culture.

Communication and Team Collaboration:

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including stakeholders and Creative Directors.

Time Management and Adaptability:

  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

Data-Driven Approach:

  • Ability to work with analytics teams to optimize content based on performance insights while maintaining creative integrity.

The salary range listed is for NYC/CA/WA. As a company, we have a location based strategy, which means the disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled.

MasterClass’s salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry. In addition to salary, we also offer equity and comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, vision, flexible PTO, and more). The range listed is for the expectations as laid out in the job description, however we are often open to a wide variety of profiles, and recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description as posted. If that ends up being the case, the updated salary range will be communicated with you as a candidate.
