This role is responsible for ​​the software engineering aspects of defining and delivering the MyStartr digital experience. 

This role works hand-in-hand with other software engineers, product management, user experience designers, and MyStartr business team members to create future-proof software applications and digital products based on MyStartr requirements, product plans, and industry best practices. This role is the focal point ultimately responsible for the software engineering aspects of the MyStartr product. 

This role will also contribute to defining and promoting Software Engineering best practices across MaRS, providing capability leadership and coaching in one or more areas of software and/or engineering techniques.

Notes on our stack and process:

  • Our backend is mostly AWS Serverless, utilizing Amplify, Cognito, DynamoDB, AppSync w/ GraphQL, EventBridge, StepFunctions, SQS, SNS, and more when and where needed. All orchestrated as IaC via AWS CDK.
  • Our front-end is mostly in Svelte, with a bit of React and Vue.
  • We use CI/CD extensively for linting, tests, visual diffs, and deployment.
  • We're not religious about any particular technology — we believe in using the right tool for a given problem.

You must have:

  • An ability to write clean, maintainable code.
  • An aversion to code without test coverage.
  • Experience with building, maintaining, and optimizing medium to large-scale, production JavaScript applications
  • Experience building software as part of a team with strong development practices
  • Excellent written English communication skills
  • Experience with Svelte is a bonus, but not mandatory.
