As Marqeta’s Senior Director, People Strategy, you will define and operationalize the HR strategy roadmap to ensure structure and clarity across the various teams within the People Experience organization. You will report directly to the Chief Administrative Officer and will be responsible for the design and strategic execution of our multi-year long range plan, the People Strategy roadmap and calendar, as well as internal communication initiatives.

The Impact You’ll Have

  • Strategically architect People Plans: Facilitate the design, planning, and execution of the People strategy roadmap, translating it into operational goals and objectives integrated across People teams
  • Enhance cross-functional execution: Drive cross-functional collaboration and alignment with key partner teams (e.g., Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, People Operations,  People Business Partners), fostering a unified approach to achieving business objectives
  • Drive strategic insights and adoption: Developing insights based strategies, clearly demonstrating programs’ value, and driving sustained adoption of our people practices and programs.
  • Orchestrate People Transformation: Lead pivotal People transformation projects that redefine organizational design and operational strategy, supporting robust implementation across the board.
  • Measure success through metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators to measure the impact and success of the People Experience programs to identify areas for improvement.
  • Champion change: Develop and implement change management and communication plans to facilitate adoption of key initiatives, and create a feedback loop to help with iteration and improvement.
  • Lead and Empower: Manage a small team of professionals focused on program management and internal communications, enabling them to excel and impact Marqeta’s business objectives.
  • Executive Communication and Presentation: Prepare and deliver compelling presentations for the Executive Team, Company Town Halls, and Board of Directors,  translating complex People data and strategies into clear, succinct, and visually engaging presentations that inform and persuade high-level stakeholders, aligning them with our strategic goals.

Who You Are

  • 15+ years experience in human resources, specifically related to People Strategy, business and organizational transformation, or strategic workforce planning. 
  • Proven track record in designing and implementing People strategies that directly support and drive business outcomes, showcasing a deep alignment with broader business goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to constructively challenge and be challenged, while respecting expertise, advising and trusting cross-functional teams to enhance both accountability and collaborative outcomes.
  • Thrives in fast paced, global technology organizations with highly skilled workforces. Ability to build out and prepare a strong people strategy function amidst a fast-paced environment
  • A keen sense of ownership and the ability to independently drive complex projects to completion on tight timelines in a fast-moving, high-performing environment
  • Adaptable and flexible, able to respond effectively to changes and challenges in a dynamic, global business environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to drive accountability and influence outcomes
  • Advanced problem solving skills, i.e., the ability to quickly digest a problem, evaluate various options/solutions and empower yourself and others to deliver
  • Experience in crafting high-impact presentations for senior executives and BOD. Demonstrated proficiency in presenting complex information in a clear, concise, and visually engaging  manner.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and commitment to excellence
  • Prior experience managing a team

Compensation and Benefits

Marqeta is a Flex First company which allows you to choose your best working environment, whether that be from home or at a company office. To support Flex First, we calibrate pay to a competitive value according to working location. Compensation is aligned according to three tiers within the United States:

  • National: A baseline tier that applies to most of the geographic territory of the United States.
  • Premium: Slightly elevated from the National tier, and oriented toward a narrower set of higher cost-of-living areas, such as Los Angeles CA and Seattle WA
  • Premium Plus: A tier for the most expensive working areas, like the San Francisco Bay area and New York City.

When determining salaries, we consider several factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior experience, and work location. The new-hire base salary range for this position is:

  • National: $181,650 - $242,200
  • Premium: $204,375 - $272,500
  • Premium Plus: $227,100 - $302,800
