Position Summary

As Marqeta’s Senior Technical Program Manager you will support an incredible product development organization and are intensely focused on providing the planning, alignment, and risk mitigation that leads to successful completion of our strategic investments.  We’re looking for a strategic, hands-on technical program manager to support the continuous improvements we are making to the development infrastructure that fuels innovation delivery at Marqeta. This is where you come in.

We work Flexible First. This role can be performed remotely anywhere within the United States or from our Oakland office. We’d love for you to join us!

The Impact You’ll Have

  • Provide excellent technical program management of large scale network, compute, CI/CD and development infrastructure initiatives, from scoping/planning through execution and risk mitigation. 
  • Establish and cultivate solid relationships with several dozen development teams in order to prioritize critical uplift and solicit feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Work with stakeholders and subject matter experts to identify gaps, scope, and prioritize infrastructure improvement programs.
  • Develop dashboards that allow teams to self-service information about infrastructure maturity and improvement progress. 
  • Represent Infrastructure and SDLC uplift efforts in executive presentations and product development trainings.
  • Investigate complex problems and design simple solutions for them.
  • Question assumptions, validate hypotheses, and define key metrics for success.
  • Communicate status and schedules, manage risks, help reports evaluate trade-offs, and call out challenges/blockers.

Who You Are

  • Extensive experience with cloud computing infrastructure supporting critical services and continuous delivery. 
  • In depth knowledge of modern software development lifecycles and what differentiates the best development organizations. 
  • Experience with developer productivity metrics , such as SPACE and DORA
  • Advanced knowledge of Jira and other Atlassian products.
  • Successful change management experience, owning the definition and adoption of improvements across a large product development organization.
  • 5+ years experience developing and managing technical programs and complex initiatives for software development teams from inception to stabilization for an engineering driven organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or two years equivalent training, fellowship or work experience.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate across multiple time zones.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, and active listener, with sufficient level of technical capability to effectively communicate with engineers and identify technical risks.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering complex projects and programs with cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-have

  • Foundational, Associate, or Professional AWS Certifications such as Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect, or DevOps Engineer
  • Experience in payments and accounting systems
  • Experience working at a high growth company
  • Project & Program Management certifications (eg. PMI PMP, PgMP)
  • Cybersecurity & compliance experience
  • Certified Scrum Master & Product Owner certifications (eg. ScrumAlliance CSM, CSPO, CSPO)

Compensation and Benefits

Marqeta is a Flex First company which allows you to choose your best working environment, whether that be from home or at a company office. To support Flex First, we calibrate pay to a competitive value according to working location. Compensation is aligned according to three tiers within the United States:

  • National: A baseline tier that applies to most of the geographic territory of the United States.
  • Premium: Slightly elevated from the National tier, and oriented toward a narrower set of higher cost-of-living areas, such as Los Angeles CA and Seattle WA
  • Premium Plus: A tier for the most expensive working areas, like the San Francisco Bay area and New York City.

When determining salaries, we consider several factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior experience, and work location. The new-hire base salary range for this position is:

  • National: $103,200 - $137,600
  • Premium: $116,100 - $154,800
  • Premium Plus: $129,000 - $172,000
