Position Summary

Marqeta is seeking a Director, Business Systems who will be responsible for delivering an extraordinary applications experience for a fast growing organization! They will work closely with business partners to understand the evolving needs and lead the end-to-end solution design as well as technical implementation and management of business systems projects/processes. A successful candidate must be able to lead a team, delivering timely projects with measurable productivity improvements. Additionally, this candidate will have demonstrated a consistent track record of handling a range of complex, high-impact projects with strong organizational leadership and influencing skills.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Align with business leaders and partner with the business teams to manage their portfolios
  • Manage business expectations, drive capacity planning and prioritize resource allocation based on the company's vision and growth strategies
  • Advise leadership on recommendations for improved processes and systems to meet the needs of our fast-growing company.
  • Manage, mentor and develop a team of business systems developers and admins (Salesforce,Intacct, DocuSign, etc); design, create and enhance application architecture and shape the architectural vision and roadmap for the organization. 
  • Manages day to day activities of developers to ensure consistently delivering quality solutions on-time, within budget, and scope
  • Actively drives the development life-cycle from requirements analysis, estimates, design, code, documentation, testing, implementation, and support
  • Develops and manages execution plans, resource planning, scheduling and development timelines
  • Develop the long-term strategy and roadmap to support the business to scale through the software development lifecycle.
  • Provide strategic leadership related to the evaluation, planning, and deployment of technology tools and systems, working with senior business partners to align and understand business strategies, and assess/ prioritize initiatives.
  • Define, manage, and report on key performance indicators that measure the team’s performance against departmental and corporate objectives
  • Hire, develop, and retain extraordinary talent to scale and meet business demands while developing talent to ensure a durable succession plan

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 + years of experience in the technology profession focused on IT applications, business analysis, functional design and managing relationships with business partners.
  • Ability to drive alignment and awareness around problem/decision 
  • Effectively partner with business partners to define and implement elegant, scalable and sustainable technical solutions translating business requirements into systems, services, and solutions with best practices in mind. 
  • Proven track record of managing IT/business relationship and interacting with senior business executives
  • Working with a complex Salesforce (SFDC) environment is preferred; experience with Intacct/Netsuite/Workday Financials is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to highlight issues to senior leaders, drive consensus and forge solutions, stay focused and on-point with a demonstrable bias toward action.
  • Ability to provide cross-functional leadership to ensure project objectives and deadlines are met
  • Ability to drive alignment and awareness around problem/decision 
  • Demonstrable experience coaching and developing teams to meet career objectives
  • Experience leading teams in a fast-paced Agile software delivery environment
  • Experiences across both application development and IT infrastructure services / operations desired
