Marqeta is looking for an accomplished and energized Sr. Compliance Officer with a passion for developing and implementing strong compliance programs. This is a highly cross-functional and strategic role that requires strong partnerships with our Business Development, Product Management, and Legal teams as well as our bank partners to conceive and execute a strategy that ensures compliance while supporting innovation.
The successful candidate is a smart, ambitious, and experienced leader who can craft compelling narratives for Marqeta’s international compliance programs, understand the regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions, develop appropriate policies and procedures to support the product vision of Marqeta and our customers, and work cross-functionally to drive unified messaging and positioning within the organization and with our partners.
This role is a senior post for a compliance and regulatory professional who wants to make the "next move" in their career. You will be a leader within the Risk & Compliance organization, driving thought leadership, leading the development of international compliance policies and implementation of compliance programs.
Developing and maintaining appropriate global compliance policies and standards (such as AML, KYC, CDD, Ethics and Privacy) and supporting their effective implementation throughout the company;
Responding to changes in relevant laws, regulations, identifying impacts across the enterprise, adjusting policy as necessary, and coordinating with relevant stakeholders to provide guidance on implementation;
Oversees enterprise-wide content alignment review and exceptions request process for compliance related procedures to the enterprise policies;
Provides support and guidance to the business lines on compliance policy, regulatory interpretation and implementation;
Continuously improve standard compliance policies and processes to help scale the compliance function;
Work in partnership with other members of the Risk & Compliance and Legal teams;
Develops and delivers effective reporting on global compliance policy efforts; and
Assists in the development of compliance training for Marqeta and our customers as required.
8+ years of relevant experience in at least one or two of the following functions: Regulatory Management, Corporate/Risk Governance, Compliance, Client regulatory support;
Knowledge of current and emerging payment systems regulation/supervision within the US, Canada and UK/EU, and in particular AML regulators;
Experience working directly with, or supporting internal control functions in technology, payments/banking or working directly with regulators within the US, Canada and UK/EU, and in particular AML regulators and banking regulators;
Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and deliver in a fast paced and dynamic environment with a high degree of personal accountability, quality, accuracy, integrity and trust;
Analytical and problem solving experience with a strong focus on quality assurance of output;
Promoting a culture of accountability and early escalation of issues
Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
