Mapbox, Inc.: Boundaries Data Engineer – Washington, DC

DUTIES: Build ETL data pipelines to convert raw geospatial data of world boundary polygons into vector tiles.
Compare and evaluate boundary datasets for quality and recency across sources. Research and compile news of
world boundary changes to be used for product data updates. Build QA/QC tools and processes to check processed
spatial datasets for defects and data regressions. Write product documentation and tutorials to support customer use
of the product. Full remote available.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science or a related engineering field
and 3 years of experience managing spatial databases or open source GIS software. Prior experience must include:

3 years of experience in each of the following:
- Building pipelines for automating data cleaning and processing tasks using python, javascript and shell scripts;
and,
- Spatial data processing using custom workflows in desktop GIS like QGIS or equivalent.

2 years of experience in each of the following:
- Interactive web map development using javascript, html and CSS; and,
- Creating customized data extracts from OpenStreetMap database using relevant OpenStreetMap tags.
