In 2019, Mapbox made a considerable investment in the platform to support the Japanese market, including the integration of best-in-class Zenrin data and supporting the launch of Yahoo! JAPAN’s new maps for millions of people. Today, the demand for Mapbox in Japan is growing as we become the leading Japanese platform for maps and locations.

Mapbox Japan is building the world’s first map-based DSP (“demand side platform”), enabling developers to monetize maps in their own apps.

What You'll Do

Solutions Architect (SA) are technical and business experts that partner with customers to solve the biggest location challenges. They advise customers on technical architectures, create blueprints from common patterns they encounter everyday and partner with product teams to fix gaps and identify new use cases.  Their work results in increased customer value from Mapbox products, increased sales and improved product capabilities. Most SE’s have product management, sales engineering, consulting, and engineering experience prior to taking on this role.

As a Solutions Architect, you’ll partner with Mapbox Account Manager (AMs) and Technical account Managers (TAMs) to consult large enterprise and strategic customers on how to build with Mapbox. You’ll own the technical sale. This will require understanding complex use cases and environments and guiding customers through the proof of concept phase. You’ll also use your deep business and industry knowledge to build end-to-end proofs of concepts and solutions architectures that demonstrate new use cases for location tools to our customers and partners.

What We Believe are Important Traits for This Role

  • English (business technical) and Japanese (Native~) language skills
  • A passion for working with customers to solve their problems. 
  • Bring expert technical insight into data visualization, mobile applications, data engineering and analytics technology architecture.
  • Strategic and creative applying technology to solve customer problems.
  • A great communicator, comfortable explaining complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences in verbal and written form to audiences large and small.
  • 6+ years experience in technical consulting, solutions engineering or product management. 
  • 6+ years of experience working or building with one or more programming languages or platforms: AWS, Azure, Javascript, Python, Java, Objective-C, Swift, C++, analytics, web development, mobile development, embedded systems, GIS
  • Desire to explore, learn and teach new languages, skills, techniques, and platforms
