Malka, The Adaptive Content Studio is seeking a highly experienced Head of Product to lead the development and management of a content creation and distribution platform. This pivotal senior role reports into the CEO and requires a deep experience and expertise at the cross-section of:

  • Product Development and LIfecycle Management 
  • Advanced Technology, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), API Integrations
  • Content Production, Workflow Management and Publishing 
  • Media Asset Management   

The ideal candidate will drive innovation and efficiency in our product offerings, ensuring Malka stays ahead of the evolving needs of the media industry.

This role is onsite and requires visiting our Jersey City office 4 times per week. Candidates need to be within commutable distance of our Jersey City, NJ office.

Responsibilities 

  • Product Builder and Developer
    • Working closely with engineers to lead the development of the Malka Adaptive Content Feed that will serve as the foundation of Malka’s Content as a Service offering
    • Serve as the lead Product Manager, defining and executing product strategy in alignment with the product vision and company’s goals.
    • Ensure the inclusion of the most advanced:
      • Customer Interface
      • Onboarding Process
      • Content Development and Approval Workflow (Integration)
      • Reporting Dashboard - including content performance
      • Product Roadmap / Lifecycle
    • Drive the development of the product MVP by end of Q1 2024
    • Build a product management team equipped to drive the ongoing growth and expansion of products for Malka
  • Product Manager
    • Manage the Malka MAM, our proprietary digital asset management system, utilizing metadata for enhanced media organization and retrieval and ensure integration with the new feed product.
    • Oversee the media management, focusing on codecs, formats, resolutions, filetypes, and compression techniques.
    • Understand and oversee API integrations, ensuring seamless interconnectivity between various systems and platforms. Does not need to be an API engineer, but must understand what is possible with APIs.
    • Manage product life cycles from conception through launch, including market research, product development, analytics and go-to-market strategies with the other department heads.
  • Innovator and Visionary
    • Stay abreast of emerging trends in AI technologies, guiding the integration of these capabilities into our product offering.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, and sales, to deliver high-quality products that meet the company, and clients’ expectations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7-10+ years of experience in product development media production or at a media agency, with a very strong knowledge in media management.
  • Proven track record of successful product development and management.
  • Advanced understanding of media technologies, particularly AI and API integrations.
  • Experience with Media Asset Management platforms (MAM) or DAMs. Using Metadata tagging for more dynamic file organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology and industry trends.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field.

The annual base salary for the Head of Product, Media is expected a base between $190,000 to $250,000. Base salary is one component of Malka Media's total compensation package, which includes, 401(k) match, multiple health insurance options, disability coverage, life insurance, and unlimited paid time off for salaried positions. Actual salaries will vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and competencies related to the role. This position is also eligible for a performance based bonus.
