The Deliverability team builds and maintains the software and infrastructure that allows MailChimp users to send hundreds of billions of emails a year. They also manage our IP reputation and anti-abuse automation.

We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join our team.  You are a dedicated and independent engineer who has managed a technical team with email deliverability and anti-abuse/compliance experience. You are comfortable overseeing complex projects and can effectively communicate technical issues to non-technical people.  If this sounds like you, and you'd like a chance to join the MailChimp team, we'd love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Manage successful high-capacity, large-scale projects/architecture
  • Work collaboratively across multiple teams, including Design and Infrastructure
  • Help recruit, onboard, and retain a team of engineers on fast-paced projects
  • Mentor and coach junior and senior engineers
  • Help scope, estimate, and prioritize work for a group of enthusiastic engineers

Requirements

  • 3+ years managing engineers
  • A deep understanding of deliverability and anti-abuse standards across the industry
  • Knowledge of engineering methodology, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience with technical deep-dives into code, networking, operating systems and storage coupled with a strategic approach and mindset
  • Bonus: Previous experience at an ESP or ISP and/or familiarity with M3AAWG and other major players in the industry
