About Magrathea

Magrathea is a California technology company with a mission to radically reduce the socioenvironmental impacts of producing structural metal from natural resources. We are doing this by developing a new generation of electrolytic process technology for making carbon neutral magnesium metal from seawater and brines. About the Role

Magrathea is seeking a hardworking, team-oriented laboratory technician to support the operations of our analytical chemistry program.

Role Expectations

Hands-on wet lab experience, analytical inorganic lab preferred with extensive experience measuring liquids and solids using pipettes and analytical scales
Able to work independently with SOPs and official Work Instructions
Intermediate excel skills to calculate basic unit conversions and equations digitally, including basic statistical knowledge. Preferably having experience with statistical software.
Experience operating and maintaining laboratory equipment
Experience documenting experimental procedures, observations, and results accurately in an electronic notebook and databases.
Good communication and will ask questions to fill in understanding
Knows basic laboratory safety and chemical handling

Ideal Background

Preferably a BS, MS, or PhD in chemistry
Experience with inorganic chemistry
Experience with TGA, titrations, AAS, ICP, XRF, XRD, and/or mass spectroscopy
Experience with LIMS, working with vendors, and maintaining inventory
Experience running high throughput methods
Assist in the development and validation of analytical methods as needed
Demonstrated track record of working on a team to achieve audacious goals together
History of promoting company culture based on humility, transparency, respect, and care for the success of other team members

Compensation

Salary range: $70k - 100k
