About the Role

Magrathea is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Research Engineer to design and execute experiments to drive the Magrathea's technology development and improvement program. Our innovative talent is one of the biggest drivers in our success, and talented people don’t always fit with rigid job descriptions or day-to-day responsibilities. However, we want to be transparent about what will be expected of this role. The Research Engineer will be a key player in the scale-up and design of our revolutionary electrolytic process technology. 

Role Expectations

  • Lead design and execution of experiments on key pieces of novel Magrathea technology
  • Analyze experimental data to establish conclusions and recommendations  
  • Perform engineering design calculations for heat flux, heat flow, vaporization rates and other physical parameters  
  • Design, prototype and procure/fabricate experimental rigs up to 1 m3 in size   
  • Operate and lead investigations on larger pilot plant equipment and deploy modifications where useful 

Ideal Background

  • BS, MS, or PhD in chemistry, chemical engineering or adjacent field
  • Experience with inorganic chemistry and pilot plant operations
  • Experience with analytical techniques such as ICP-OES, titrations, TGA, dissolved organic measurements, calibrations, and other aqueous analytical
  • Creative and open-minded with the ability to rapidly learn
  • Demonstrated track record of working on a team to achieve audacious goals together
  • History of promoting company culture based on humility, transparency, respect, and care for the success of other team members

Compensation

  • Salary range: $90-$150k annually (commensurate with experience)
