Job Title: Senior Cost Accountant

 

Position Summary: The position is responsible for Magnolia Bakery’s cost accounting and inventory management. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and experienced Cost Accountant with an understanding of NetSuite ERP and a proven track record of success within a manufacturing environment; and a passion for leveraging NetSuite to streamline financial processes and drive financial decision-making. This role will be involved with month end close, PO resolutions and timely receipt of TOs, SOs and POs.

 

Range: $85,000-$100,000 + 5% bonus eligibility

 

Reports to: Controller

 

Principal Duties:

Company and Department Collaboration

  • Work with Controller in reporting and managing inventory.
  • Work with Finance Managers and Supply Chain team to ensure proper costing of inventory.
  • Support Commissary, Retail Bakeries and CPG teams in recording inventory and resolving inventory discrepancies in NetSuite, including BOMs.
  • Collaborate with Supply team to resolve inventory discrepancies in ERP system.

General Accounting

  • Monitor the cycle count program and conduct physical inventories.
  • Design a cost accounting system and manage the documents and records of the organization.
  • Plan projects and collect data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor usage, waste.
  • Perform month end close activities related to cost accounting, including inventory reconciliation to general ledger.
  • Develop and maintain standard costs of finished goods and production components in NetSuite.
  • Maintain and improve processes and controls associated with manufacturing costs and inventory valuation.
  • Troubleshoot inventory variances between physical count and reports.
  • Lead and manage the quarterly excess and obsolete inventory review process.
  • Ensure validity and accuracy of NetSuite through analysis, internal audit and coordination with inventory control, production and work order processing.
  • Assist in developing and documenting policies and procedures, including system requirements and internal controls.
  • Collecting and analyzing data about a company’s operational costs.
  • Support audits and general ledger preparation. Back up (and overflow assistance) in Invoicing and three-way match (as long as we can implement approval process in NetSuite) 
  • Leverage ERP system to maintain and monitor accurate inventory across all locations.
  • Assist in Reconciliations from 3PLs and Consigned inventory to Subsidiary/Valuation schedule, as applicable (within 3-5 business days) 

Reporting

  • Perform Cost Analysis and BOM Analysis.
  • Ensure accurate and timely tracking of manufacturing costs, overhead expenses, and product margins

 Education & Experience

Required:

  • BA in Accounting or Finance
  • Experience with ERP in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with cost accounting
  • Experience in an omnichannel company
  • 3 + years professional experience minimum, especially with inventory
  • Organized with good time management skills
  • Strong grasp of GAAP accounting and general accounting concepts
  • Extremely strong Excel skills, especially advanced modeling and analytical techniques
  • Strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships

Preferred:

  • Hands on NetSuite experience
  • Food industry experience a plus
  • Ability to motivate and maintain effective working relationships with staff and partners
  • Organized with good time management skills
  • 5+ years experience in Accounting, Cost Accounting
  • Experience with NetSuite in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills

 

 

 

Salary Range
$85,000$100,000 USD
