The Optical Test & Metrology team is searching for an expert Automation Engineer, with automation programming experience in LabVIEW (must), MATLAB or robotics programming languages. The Automation Architect should have experience designing and building metrology experiments in a lab setting for testing/verifying the parts they have designed.
Responsible for calibrating sensors, measuring motion system accuracy and precision and mitigating DAQ noise. T
Creating non-trivial automated motion control and data acquisition system designs. A majority of the automation design work will be on or for optical systems; imagery, illuminators, detectors, DAQ systems.
The Architect Engineer should be familiar with optical systems in a lab setting.
Experience with designing two of the following systems required:
Linear stage or robotic arm automation with sub 1um repeatability,
Rotation stage or robotic arm automation with sub arc-min repeatability,
Sensor DAQ systems in excess of 70dB of dynamic range,
Single axis stage or robotic arm automation exceeding 3m/s operation
National Instrument DAQ, DIO and D/A systems,
Imaging DAQ with real-time image analysis
Sensor DAQ with real-time signal processing
Linear and rotation stage control
Precision encoder feedback control
Digital I/O control,
Sensor control including imaging sensor, photo-sensor, thermocouple, V/I sensing
Synchronization of sensor DAQ with motion control
DC motor PID tuning
Servo motor control
Experience with Newmark and Aerotech controllers and stages is preferred.
