Psychological Research Software Programmer - Contractor

The Social Psychology Research team is seeking a software programmer with excellent skills in 3D software development. The position involves responsibility for software implementation to be used in psychological research on Mixed Reality technology. The team informs leadership and other teams on quantified guidelines and requirements regarding the interplay between psychology and technology, and works closely with other departments such Quantified Experience, System engineering, Consumer Research and Human Factors. The ideal candidate has a an interest in virtual environments and psychological applications of technology, as well as in conducting scientific research in an applied context. We seek people who are self-starters with creative, dynamic and independent thinking skills who thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
Implement various software tools that will be used in studies to investigate psychological experiences and phenomena (cognition, emotion, perception)
Implement readable, reusable code
Build familiarity with the devices Magic Leap psychological research teams use in the lab and troubleshoot issues in software and hardware
Give feedback to the software teams and support efforts to develop standards for coding style and version control
Contribute to a variety activities related to running psychological studies, such as recruitment, proctoring, setting up hardware for experiments, and data collection
Proficient in Unity/Unreal
Proficient in C++/C#
You have an interest in science, research methodologies and experimentation
You can identify potential problems quickly and communicate them clearly with a sense of urgency and toward audiences with various levels of technical knowledge
You can adjust to change and get up-to-speed on new technical developments quickly and get your hands dirty with various hardware prototypes
You are organized, detail oriented and conscientious in your work
Preferred experience with Matlab and/or Python
Preferred experience with OpenGL
Preferred experience working closely with hardware products
Preferred experience with work in a research lab at a university or applied research team at a company
BS/MS, Computer Science or related
