Magic Leap seeks a Set Designer to design and create spaces for various traveling events.
The role of the Set Designer requires an artistic creative vision and the ability to execute that creative vision. It is a design and build job role. The set designer must fully understand furniture styles and trends along with fabrics and textiles. They must also understand space lighting and be able to create various moods through light. They should also be familiar with room and space scale along with pedestrian flow.
The Set Designer needs to have a strong technical understanding of the Magic Leap product. Having a background in technical demos and special events desired.
The Set Designer will take guidance from the Art Director and potential external design partners who will assist in guiding the vision. Online and storefront shopping may also be a role of the Set Designer. This may be last minute in nature and include furniture stores, home improvement stores, AV stores, thrift stores, etc. It will also be necessary to negotiate contracts with mover's, home staging companies, logistics and shipping as well as event companies.
Creative design and execution of spaces.
Ability to move and arrange furnishings.
Ability to set various moods with lighting.
Produce plans, drawings and sketches.
Ability to shop and buy furnishings, lighting and related hardware.
Necessary to travel to various locations.
3-5 years of experience in Set Design for Theater, Film, TV or special events.
Demonstrated experience working with various teams, vendors and partners.
Works well with other individuals under tight deadlines.
Understanding of design, furniture styles and trends.
Exhibits strong creative skillset.
Good technical skills.
Experience working on technical demos and events like GDC, Comic Con, CES, etc.
Background education in the arts.
