The Director, Technical Program Management will be responsible for building and leading Magic Leap’s Human Centered AI Program Management Organization, focused on the delivery of innovative AI features.

You will drive the execution of a complex engineering and product program while ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments, and goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the program management for the Human Centered AI organization and interface across many other programs and organizations within Magic Leap

  • Continuously observe and suggest improvements to development and operational processes

  • Lead the planning and implementation of software and hardware milestones

  • Facilitate the definition of program scope, goals, and deliverables

  • Capture overall program resource requirements and manage resource allocation

  • Develop full-scale program plan

  • Assist in the recruiting, hiring, and coordination of program management staff

  • Develop, manage, and track budgets

  • Oversee the tracking and execution of program deliverables

  • Provide direction and support to program management team

  • Constantly monitor, track, and report on progress of the program

  • Proactively identify potential issues and propose mitigation plans or alternative solutions

  • Identify key performance indicators, implement meaningful metrics, and measure product performance

  • Prepare presentations for senior management articulating program status/progress, key risks, and mitigations, and technical milestones

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a Program Manager on a high volume consumer electronics product with emphasis on hardware and software integration

  • Experience in delivering large and complex hardware and software programs, with emphasis on machine learning

  • Demonstrated leadership skills

  • Experience with cloud services and software security strongly desired

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of program and project management

  • Knowledge of project management techniques and tools including MS Project

  • Proven experience in Agile software development methodologies

  • Proven experience in people management

  • Proven experience in strategic planning

  • Proven experience in risk management

  • Proven experience in change management

  • Proficient in software program management

Education:

  • MS in a Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other engineering discipline is required
