POSITION OVERVIEW 

This role is located in Paris, France.

  • Responsible for managing and ensuring the smooth running of the development of formulas for several projects and categories (fragrance, skin care, hair care, hygiene, home) in collaboration with subcontractors and in accordance with customer specifications
  • Works closely with the various internal departments (Marketing, Project management, Packaging, Purchasing, Regulatory affairs, Quality) and external departments (subcontractors, perfume houses, laboratories, raw material suppliers, etc.)
  • Participates in the development of industrial specifications with the quality department and manages the industrial implementation stages. Guarantees industrial feasibility from a formulation point of view
  • Manages an R&D Project Manager
  • Be the scientific reference for clients and marketing
  • Contribute to the development of an innovative, fast-growing international company

PAY RANGE: 

47K€/yr - 50K€/yr. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location,

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Project management: Manage the development of multi-category products (fragrance, skin care, hair care, hygiene, home) in collaboration with subcontractors and in accordance with customer specifications (5 to 10 accounts/year).
  • Draft technical briefs for subcontractors and perfume houses while respecting constraints (costs, regulations)
  • Contribute to source for new industrial partners and formulas
  • Monitor raw materials and analyze the market in order to propose for innovative concepts
  • Provide and monitor feedback on formula developments
  • Draw up and monitor retro plannings and costs related to R&D for new developments and reworks
  • Supervise production launches, industrial scale up, definition of technical parameters, feasibility study, validation of first production batch
  • Technical audits of partner plants
  • Draft procedures and internal manual guidelines
  • Handle non-conformities related to formulation, implementation of corrective actions
  • Manage efficacy testing : selection of service providers, definition of tests according to expected claims, in agreement with the regulatory department
  • Monitor Stability & compatibility study (internal & external) 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, cosmetics or formulation
  • French and English written and spoken
  • Knowledge of Coptis or Cosmetic Factory would be an advantage
  • Over 10 years of relevant experience in formula development or formulation in Cosmetic industry
  • Robust understanding and demonstrated expertise in the development of multiples product categories such as perfumery, skincare, hair care, hygiene, home products
  • Strong knowledge of the European manufacturing partners and solid experience in external development
  • Solid and demonstrated experience in industrialization (monitoring of production launch, scaling up to industrial scale, definition of technical parameters, feasibility study, validation of first batch, technical audits of partner plants)
  • Previous managerial experience
  • Good knowledge in office pack
  • Intercultural experience and ability to act in a complex and rapidly changing business environment
  • Adaptability and agility
  • Capable to work in a very dynamic and changing environment, on multiple project and categories
  • Ability to quick reaction to unplanned changes to make short term operation successful
  • Robustly structured in applying processes
  • Organized, autonomous and able to identify when to validate or verify an element with management
