We build systems that push the limits of the latest generation of cloud technologies. As a backend engineer, you’ll work on a variety of projects based on the intersection of your affinities, abilities, and development goals.
Examples of systems we build:
- A real-time bidding engine that can evaluate millions of ad opportunities per second, with strict performance and uptime requirements.
- Forecasting systems, algorithms, and data architectures capable of enriching, processing, and analyzing petabytes of data per week.
- External APIs that enable frictionless integration with our platform, ranging from custom reporting apis for ad-hoc analysis of campaign performance to platform apis for programmatic activation of programmatic ad campaigns.
- Dev infrastructure, tooling, and CI pipelines that enable us to reliably and excellently ship software.

Our stack lives in the warm embrace of Google Cloud Platform. Core technologies for our backend include Go, gRPC, BigQuery, Postgres, Airflow, Bigtable, Docker, Spanner, Firebase, Kubernetes, and Terraform.

Every MadHive engineer has the opportunity to meaningfully contribute to our technical architecture, product vision, and engineering culture.
As an engineer, you’re entrusted with the responsibility of taking our shared platform vision and making it a reality. We hire engineers who can autonomously own complex scopes of work and who are able to deliver product-grade code with minimal guidance.
Ideally you’ll have had 3+ years of experience building robust backend systems at scale. We look for “T” shaped engineers -- those who are competent across a wide range of technologies, with deep expertise in at least one technical domain.
Besides raw technical ability, we select for those with a strong ownership mentality and a passion for being at the bleeding edge of tech. At MadHive the best idea wins regardless of where it comes from, and we aim to hire team players who can synthesize and distill information across a wide variety of perspectives, contribute their opinions in an egoless way, and collaborate effectively across departments.
Previous experience in Adtech is not required. Our engineers come from a diverse array of backgrounds including big tech (Google), quantitative hedge funds (Bridgewater), and crypto exchanges (Gemini).
Bonus points if you are an expert with certain technologies in our stack and/or have experience architecting petabyte scale data pipelines, consumer grade apis, or high performance distributed systems.
