Quality Engineer

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Quality Engineer who is excited about building a world class operation at Lunar Energy.  We’re looking for someone who is excited to dig in to immediate Quality needs to keep our programs on track while executing an overall strategy to optimize our internal processes to support high volume Production. You will be responsible for preventing and reducing risk in our Design, Manufacturing, and Suppliers by using data to drive efficiencies and long term improvements.  We are looking for people who are passionate about a more sustainable future and want to make that vision a reality. On a given day at Lunar, you’ll likely…

  • First responder for Quality issues from Supplier to Customer with a focus on Power Electronics, PCBA, and hardware components
  • Supports Production at Contract Manufacturers as needed
  • Interprets technical drawings and requirements
  • Designs and executes experiments to explore improvements, validate changes, and determine root cause of failures
  • Provides data reports with clear messaging and conclusions
  • Maintain constant communication with Lunar Program Management regarding Quality issues and requirements
  • Lead Root Cause investigations and determine Corrective Actions as needed
  • Escalate any existing or potential program risks to Lunar Management
  • Work with CM’s and Lunar Engineering to set incoming inspection procedures of critical dimensions and sampling plans for IQC/OQC at supplier and CM facilities

Desired Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Geometric Design and Tolerancing (GD&T) and datum structures
  • Strong knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
  • Experience with Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
  • Experience facilitating and creating PFMEA, Control Plans, Inspection Plans, and other relevant Quality documentation
  • Hands on experience with Metrology, Inspection Methods and Equipment (CMM, OMM, etc.)
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and offer feedback based on best practices
  • Excellent understanding of critical Quality factors for different manufacturing processes and industries
  • Experience with SMT, PCBA’s, Batteries, and Consumer electronics is ideal
  • Great written and oral communication
  • Ability to cultivate relationships with key cross-functional team members

Qualifications 

  • Masters or Bachelors Degree in an Engineering field
  • 5+ years experience as a Quality Engineer in a high-volume Manufacturing environment
  • Certified Quality Engineer, Lean Six Sigma, Green Belt, or other certification preferred
  • Trained in structured problem solving methods such as Ishikawa, 5-Why, or 8D methodology

Our Compensation Philosophy: Our goal is to ensure that all Lunar Energy employees are fairly compensated. Please note that the salary range information that follows is a good faith estimate for this position provided pursuant to the Pay Transparency for Pay Equity Act for California applicants. The salary range estimate for this position depending on level of experience is: $140k - $165k USD.

The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package & benefits, will be at the company’s sole discretion, and determined by factors including but not limited to years of experience, job level, geographic location, and other relevant business considerations.
