The Group Manager at Lumos & Associates will help lead and grow the Engineering Division across our geographic service regions.

This position will have the opportunity to develop relationships with clients, identify new business through networking opportunities, manage client projects from start to finish, and recruit, hire, and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership in the development of new business and promotes repeat and referral business with existing clients in alignment with company strategies and goals; participates in networking events and business development meetings. This includes reviewing, providing guidance on, and directing responses to SOQ, RFP, and RFQ responses.
  • Formulates and recommends engineering policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and overall value in the market.
  • Acts as liaison between department management/subordinate levels, as well as executive/department manager levels to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies and procedures, and all matters that affect their performance, attitudes, and results.
  • Establishes and maintains effective, professional relationships with relevant stakeholders including clients, government agencies, and allied professionals, especially sub-consultants.
  • Manages the Group’s backlog and identify staffing needs.
  • Oversees delegation of work and distribution of project load to ensure optimum efficiency and achieve a healthy work/life balance.
  • Reviews and approves all fee proposals and scopes of work prepared by their group ($100,000 signing limit).
  • Oversees the delivery of high quality projects and services to clients.
  • Prepares and presents projects to local authorities (i.e. planning board and staff review committee meetings).
  • Actively communicates business strategy and key results to operations staff. Facilitate regular staff meetings to promote open, transparent, and consistent communication.
  • Mentors and coaches staff to achieve optimal job performance. Supports and encourages career development. Promotes positive employee relations and resolves employee issues. Supports team building with positive and open communication.
  • Participates in staff selection/interview process. Recruit, hire, and oversee training of engineering staff.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

 Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year College or University with an emphasis in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • 10+ years’ proven experience in relevant civil engineering consulting/project management.
  • Proven expertise in developing and managing new business opportunities and client proposals.
  • Registered as a Professional Civil Engineer in Nevada/California a plus; ability to obtain Professional Civil Engineering license in Nevada within 6 months of hire date required.
  • Demonstrated project management experience; prior experience with public works is a plus.
  • Understanding of computer-aided design and drafting software, AutoCAD and Civil 3D is a plus but not required.
  • Computer proficient with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook).
  • Proven experience using Project Information and or Project Management software is a plus.
  • Collaborative team player able to lead strategy with persistent execution.
  • Self-starter and hungry to lead initiatives that will grow and expand a business’s footprint in a dynamic, fast-paced and deadline driven environment.
  • Outstanding results-oriented track record with excellent time/project management. Ability to apply cost/benefits analysis to requested projects.
  • Proven experience successfully building trust, empowering people/teams, and making cross-functional cooperation happen in a highly engaged manner.
  • Prior experience in managing a staff (supervise, train, coach, develop, motivate, interview, hire, terminate) and lead by example.
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record with 3 or less demerit points.
