The Group Manager for Capex Procurement manages a team of Global Supply Managers and oversees all company business within the capital equipment category. The Manager is the key internal escalation and decision-maker with Suppliers, Finance, Engineering, and Manufacturing. They will establish our capex global supply chain strategy for powertrain (E-Motor and Battery), manage end-to-end contracting, supplier management, and lead cross-functional teams in execution to deliver a world-class capex program.
You Will:
- Lead a team of procurement professionals to effectively manage the sourcing, negotiation, and contracting processes for the capital equipment procurement category reporting to the Director, Capex.
- Lead RFQs, review, analyze, and clarify quotations from suppliers, and develop sound sourcing and business recommendations balancing cost, quality, lead-time, and technical considerations
- Negotiate contracts by driving sound procurement business fundamentals amongst your team: Sourcing Strategies, RFIs, RFQs, Quote Analysis, Program Management, financial due diligence, and executive approvals.
- Thoroughly negotiate favorable contracts including equipment pricing, tooling, development, timing, spare parts, and payment terms
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard strategic suppliers/vendors, fostering strong partnerships to drive innovation, value creation, and continuous improvement.
- Be a key decision maker and partner with your counterparts within Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain, focused on cost, quality, and project delivery.
- Work with suppliers and Manufacturing to manage design changes and impacts
- Manage supplier development and equipment timelines, part availability for prototype builds/start of production, and develop solutions to delays or problems that arise
- Maintain overall supplier relationships and act as a point of contact for all commercial issues, including internal report-outs summarizing sourcing status, availability, and cost status
- Ownership of key supplier relationships and activities, both strategic and tactical, through the entire life cycle of company projects, from initial sourcing through development, tooling, and industrialization phases as well as product launch and ongoing business management
- Work closely with Engineering and Manufacturing during the design phase to ensure manufacturability and capital equipment opportunities are balanced
- Travel up to 15-25% to visit suppliers to perform business and program reviews
You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or related field required. Master's or Advanced degree is a plus
- 10 years minimum experience working across Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or Engineering experience related to in-direct materials, capital equipment or manufacturing processes
- The ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels of the business from analysts to VPs
- Strong interpersonal skills with a high degree of resilience to deal with urgent requests and minimal information. Works well with various teams
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, analyze market trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Proven ability to lead by example and take pride in both your and your teams’ work. Coaching the team to be successful and take ownership of the company goals and objectives.
- Passion for results, strategy, and hands-on execution.
- The ability to manage complex suppliers and resolve disputes while preserving relationships with suppliers and internal staff
- Strong written and verbal skills as well as organizational and program management capabilities
- Proficient in Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word, ERP systems (SAP or equivalent)
