We are currently seeking a Program Manager, within the Powertrain Programs team. This position requires an experienced professional with a proven track record of Program / Project managerial achievements.

The candidate is an accomplished program/project manager, with a proven track record of delivery from concept through to market launch (ideally in an automotive environment). The candidate will be required to coordinate key team members throughout the design cycle and beyond. The individual is able to initiate, lead, delegate and challenge the status quo. They are driven and self-proficient in driving products through to completion. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of Electric vehicles charging systems / power system topologies, with past experience of working within the Automotive sector.

The role will be focused on offboard charging concepts - therefore an understand of off-board electric vehicle charging equipment and market trends would be ideal, to help drive initiatives and innovative products for the company. The individual is required to understand organizational capabilities / needs, with the ability to influence and coordinate with stakeholders, for a seamless technical program development, from concept through to full project implementation and beyond. The candidate must communicate effectively to ensure each individual team member remain aware of the most relevant program milestones, and delivers expectations placed by the product team or business. They will be required to effectively communicate targets to stakeholders, as well as members of the board. Critical issues are promptly identified and brought up to senior management alongside a concise action plan. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude, and approaches work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly and to strive for efficient progression within a fast-paced and complex work environment. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Manage the engineering development process for off-board charging products.
  • Working alongside and bringing together a cross-functional engineering team including powertrain design and systems, software, test & validation, marketing and various suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain the product development timeline, resource and budget requirements.
  • Define / Contribute to Business plans and strategy, including budget planning and management.
  • Drive the engineering activities at the product level in accordance with the development timeline, including requirements definition, supplier selection, design release, prototyping, engineering testing, process development, DV & PV testing, APQP and after market care.
  • Drive key decisions (technical, project timing, supplier decisions, change management, etc.) that impact system delivery.
  • Take ownership and drive resolution of any blockers to successful delivery of the product, including:
    • Technical issues during development or series production - work with responsible engineers to define and drive actions to resolve, monitor and report status to management teams.
    • Supplier issues - monitor and escalate appropriately with supply chain and engineering teams to resolve.
    • Organizational issues - identify gaps in resources, processes or roles/responsibilities and escalate appropriately with management teams.
    • Manufacturing issues that require engineering support – respond to requests for support and escalate appropriately with manufacturing teams and engineering teams to resolve.
  • Contribute to the Smart Charging roadmaps (including variants, product improvements, supplier changes, etc) and impacts on technical specifications, validation testing, manufacturing, cost, etc.
  • Define / Contribute towards offboarding requirements: Understand infrastructure / grid network requirements and it’s interface with a vehicle.

 

Qualifications 

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Strong understanding and experience of automotive engineering product development, from concept to series production
  • Experience with off-board charging equipment and electric vehicles.
  • Understanding of APQP requirements / principles.
  • Experience with best practices and tools for development of automotive products.
  • Experience of engaging and working with automotive suppliers and contract manufacturers.
  • Strong technical understanding of the fundamentals of EV and off-board charging requirements.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure (grid network / utility companies) needs and requirements.
  • Systems approach to engineering product development, including demonstrated ability to bring together teams from different engineering disciplines.
  • Experience building, developing, and managing highly effective program management tools and techniques.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with ability to work in a high-pace highly complex cross-functional environment.
  • Excellent organization and delegation skills with ability to own the product roadmap and schedule with a track record of delivering projects on-time.
  • Ability to inspire confidence to the executive members as well as the engineering project teams.
  • Ability to quickly comprehend complex problems and effectively facilitate the team to a decision and coordinate the action plan.
  • Understanding of Practical Problem-solving techniques is desirable.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with ability to drive decisions using data and metrics
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Goal-oriented self-starter and motivator

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field (Master’s degree preferred)

 

 

Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
 
Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs.  (Cash or equity incentive awards, if any, will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.)
