The Powertrain Operations Team is responsible for supporting advanced engineering development activities throughout the Powertrain organization, including prototype build and test of hardware for Lucid Motors’ next generation HV Battery, Drive Unit and Power Electronics programs, at our headquarters in Newark, CA.
 
We are currently seeking an Equipment Maintenance Technician to own the equipment maintenance process and other critical activities for our prototype build teams.



The Role:
  • Secure seamless operation and perform maintenance repairs of all types of equipment (large or small) used in various labs/locations, throughout the Powertrain HQ organization, focusing primarily on Powertrain prototype builds and testing areas (i.e., HV battery, drive unit, power electronics, etc.) while considering potential future role expansion to include other areas as well
  • Establish, schedule, execute and document (e.g. daily, weekly, monthly, etc.) all preventive maintenance (PM) activities on all types of equipment, as assigned, to reduce downtime and help keep planned build and testing timelines
  • Perform calibration or plan outsourcing of calibration services for all types of equipment requiring calibration, as need or assigned
  • Perform detailed and systematic root cause analysis (RCCA) on all types of equipment, as assigned, to enable proper maintenance / repairs and reduced downtime, and generate proper reports and associated corrective measures on all incidents to proactively decrease the potential of future failures
  • Fabricate or rework metal parts for all types of equipment, as needed, in support of timely repairs and to reduce downtime
  • Secure and systematically track an adequate on-hand spare parts inventory (including lead-time system) to support equipment repairs and ensure business continuity
  • Support prerequisite steps and actual installation of new equipment, as assigned
  • Establish or adjust maintenance work schedules throughout assigned areas to meet build and testing plans
  • Document maintenance steps performed and work hours through the CMMS system
  • Manage and update internal tracking sheets and generate activity reports, as necessary
  • Understand and enforce process compliance throughout the process areas assigned (scope of operations)
  • Report any major maintenance needs and recommend corrective actions, as appropriate
  • Participate in contractors’ selection process (RFQ) and advise on scope of work and critical requirements, as needed
  • Conduct supplier / vendor / contractor communications through all available internal channels, to ensure timely resolution of orders / outstanding parts deliveries / services (including clarifications regarding orders, scope of work, quotes, invoicing, etc.)
  • Enforce and follow all safety rules and regulations, to enable a safe work environment
  • Work closely with and communicate efficiently and effectively across all levels within Lucid to provide technical expertise and support, or undertake other responsibilities, as needed
  • Analyze and review internal processes and propose process improvements, as necessary, to eliminate redundancies, optimize process flow and increase efficiency


Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years of experience in a maintenance capacity covering industrial / manufacturing equipment maintenance and/or any equivalent combination of relevant trainings and experience
  • Mechanical knowledge and detailed troubleshooting abilities of various types of industrial/manufacturing equipment/tools (e.g. robots, etc.)
  • Knowledge of electrical theories / concepts and correct use of appropriate tools to allow for proper troubleshooting
  • Understanding of programming logic and PLCs, as well as, of pneumatics, valves, actuators, controls, etc.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, SOP/BOM and related material / equipment design documentation
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs, and/or stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl, to perform daily work
  • Works at times in outdoor weather conditions
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, overtime, weekends, when necessary
  • Strong problem solving, quantitative and analytical abilities
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally to achieve the objective
  • A systematic, meticulous mindset, with strong abilities to follow strict instructions
  • An initiative-taking, self-starter mindset with a high ability to adapt
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal


Preferred:
  • Experience with PLCs, BMS or other logic platform (e.g. Rockwell, Siemens, etc.)
  • Experience and ability to recover/control robots from pendent, PLCs, HMIs, and machines, in general
  • Verification or experience with industrial controls
  • Basic electricity and electronic knowledge and/or training
  • Experience working with various power distribution systems and industrial busways
  • Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting experience
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience using CMMS systems and equipment monitoring systems
  • Experience using Smartsheet / Jira / Confluence
  • High School Diploma or GED
Compensation Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
 
Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs.  (Cash or equity incentive awards, if any, will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.)
