Our mission is to bring the first FDA approved aging drugs to the market, and we’ve already achieved ground-breaking milestones on our path to gaining FDA approval for the first lifespan extension drug for any species. With our first commercial products, the goal is to help dogs live longer and stay healthier as they age. 

 

About the role

Loyal is about 12 months away from the projected launch of our first product to market. We are seeking an experienced PR Communications Manager to develop and execute comprehensive public relations strategies to raise awareness of our brand and products

This role is for someone who:

  • Has a track record of developing strategic plans, building campaigns, and partnering with PR agencies to maximize reach and engagement
  • Can both lead and execute
  • Has excellent communication skills, writes well, and can present complex information in efficient and effective ways
  • Is a creative thinker who can generate innovative ideas and campaigns
  • Is comfortable determining priorities, independently managing multiple projects, and can collaborate with leadership to deliver on our mission

You will be reporting directly to the Chief People + Comms Officer, Cheryl Heinonen

 

Your daily work will include:

  • Create and manage a strategic PR plan, including goals, tactics, results analysis, timelines, etc.
  • Develop and implement media relations strategies for the company’s products during launches and events
  • Craft compelling press releases, pitches, Q&A material, and media kits to secure coverage in relevant publications
  • Manage media inquiries and interview requests, coordinating with our agency and internal experts as needed
  • Monitor and analyze media coverage and industry trends to identify opportunities and threats
  • Outline PR content needs to support and amplify go-to-market strategy
  • Create and manage a PR calendar to ensure consistent and engaging content that aligns with the overall marketing plan
  • Partner to produce high-quality written, visual, and multimedia content, including articles, blog posts, press releases, infographics, and more

 

While not required, we’d be especially excited if you:

  • Have experience in reactive and crisis communications
  • Have previous experience with content management systems, SEO tools, and social media platforms
  • Have previous experience in the pet or pet health industry
  • Excel in building and executing as you go
  • Love animals — especially dogs :)

About you: 

Education and qualifications / Proficiencies:

  • 4-6 years of experience in public relations, in-house or agency
  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, communications, or related field required; masters’ degree a plus but not required
  • Knowledge of industry trends and best practices in content marketing and PR
  • Hands-on experience in creating innovative campaigns alongside internal stakeholders to engage with the public and media
  • Track record of building share of voice for a company or product through time
  • Strong writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to distill information from leadership, and are comfortable communicating upwards and across an organization
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced startup environment with a dynamic team
  • Ability to quickly learn new concepts and processes
  • Familiarity with G suite applications (e.g., Sheets, Slides, etc.)

Salary: $100k - $130k
