Entry-level manufacturing and process engineer. Support the primary process engineer with strategic initiatives at headquarters and technical implementation at remote assembly lines. This role is part of a two/three person team and interfaces closely with design engineering, supply chain and operations.
Understand project requirements, assess new aerospace technologies, and develop detailed process plans for all aspects of final assembly & testing for the Loon flight vehicle
Provide in-field support to the primary manufacturing engineer in delivering data analysis, failure modes reporting, assembly fixture design, tool selection and documentation
Able to propose and implement creative solutions for open-ended problems. Very strong analytical skills, even when faced with ambiguity
Establish continuous communication, reports, and updates between remote facilities and HQ in Mountain View. Manage documentation related to assembly instructions and test procedures.
Implement MES, MRP, ERP tools to improve the efficiency of supply chain operations and flight vehicle assembly
BS degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
2+ years direct experience involving production floor, shop floor, product assembly, or equivalent
Have the ability to climb stairs, walk, squat, kneel, or drive a majority of the day
Wear hard hats and steel-toed boots when required
Able to travel up to 50%
Understanding of BOM structures, ECO, MCO, and deviation processes and experience with MES, MRP, and ERP systems
Understanding of relational databases, their underlying data structures, basic SQL, and corresponding report generation, or equivalent
