Shadow is a technology company dedicated to building power within the progressive movement. Our tools and platforms enable campaigns and other progressive organizations to reach a wider audience of supporters and make sense of the data available to them.
Shadow is looking for Software Engineering Interns that will help build out our backend systems. We are an organization that believes in supporting growth, both of the progressive movement and mission-oriented engineers. We will be hiring two interns to work together with our backend engineering lead. She’s not as intimidating as that sounds, I promise.
This is a full or part time position based in Seattle. Annual salary is $60,000, prorated for the summer.

Our stack includes the following technologies: Google Cloud Platform, Python, Java, Node.js (Typescript), Postgres, Kubernetes, Firebase, CircleCI. Don’t worry if you haven’t used all of these though, we are committed to teaching and ongoing learning.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Passion for the progressive movement and a mission-oriented attitude
- Knowledge of coding fundamentals include control flow, loops, and objects
- Time management skills
- Eagerness to try things out and learn from reading, failure, and feedback
