The Data Engineer works within the data science product team, helping to design and build new components of our product. The work is varied and project based and will require wide technical experience. The data engineer will turn business problems into technical requirements and will lead the architecture of solutions alongside hands on software development. The developer will be responsible for delivering end to end solutions, incorporating analytical logic, data pipeline and data visualisation. Innovation is a large component of this role and the engineer should be comfortable with discovering and testing new open source technologies as they appear. The role will involve working closely with core engineering and infrastructure teams. The engineer will be comfortable working in an agile manner, be able to problem solve independently and have a solid understanding of automated data solutions.


  • Design, build, operate, and optimize internal and external data science APIs  
  • Help lead your fellow engineers as they tackle challenging problems such as implementing SOA and Kubernetes at scale, building new systems in the cloud, and developing the data science components to our products.
  • Evaluate, embrace and introduce technology innovations to keep LiveRamp on the cutting edge of industry tools and best practices.

  • Have 3+ years of experience writing and deploying production code.
  • Given a file of 100 billion cookies, you’d instinctively know how to count the uniques.
  • Understand Linux to a degree where you’d be comfortable admin’ing a fleet of boxes.
  • Understand DNS, TCP, and HTTP.
  • Have experience architecting system in AWS and GCP. Infrastructure as code (Terraform) is a plus.
  • Know when to use SQL vs NoSQL databases.
  • Are comfortable implementing both batch solutions and streaming ones.
  • Are able to decompose business requirements into a set of RESTful resources.
  • Are proficient in at least one compiled (ideally Java) and one interpreted language (ideally Python).
  • Have worked with serverless solutions.
  • Know how to manage a Hadoop cluster, can write Hive queries and Spark jobs.
  • Are able to design and implement a large, efficient codebase.
  • Be able to both identify and implement a practical test suite.
  • Are a data enthusiast who wants to be surrounded by brilliant teammates and huge challenges.
