Overview:
You will report to the Director of DMD. You are expected to work in a staggered shift to provide overlap of at least 4 hours with the US EST time zone. 

We are seeking a highly skilled Sr Data Engineer to join our team, specializing in organization-wide data architecture and robust data governance and best practices implementation across all dashboards and reporting within our organization's diverse business units. The successful candidate will manage, scale, and optimize the platform that powers business intelligence reports, data science models, and key business metrics. This role is critical in ensuring that data is accessible, reliable, and actionable, enabling decision-making across the entire organization.

Working as part of the Data, Models, and Decisions (DMD) team, the successful candidate has an opportunity to join an innovative data science and engineering team that’s operationalizing data across the organization. We see model-driven processes and workflows as a means to reduce uncertainty, reveal opportunity, and generate operational leverage that collectively create a new dimension of competitive advantage and lay the foundation for new revenue streams. 

In this role you will:

  • Reliable Data Pipelines: Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture. Assemble large, complex data sets that meet a broad range of business requirements. Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements, including automating manual processes, optimizing data flows, and re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability.
  • Data Modeling and Architecture: Utilize advanced data modeling techniques (DBT preferred) to integrate complex and disparate data sources into cohesive data models, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Best Practices Advocacy: Champion best practices for data pipelines, data catalog, dta quality and data analysis methodologies, ensuring adherence to industry standards and organizational guidelines.
  • Technical Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert in Data Lake and Data Warehouse, providing guidance, training, and support to analytics and reporting teams.
  • Data Analysis and Insights: Conduct in-depth analysis of business data to uncover insights, trends, and opportunities, translating findings into actionable recommendations for business improvement and strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborative Partnerships: Collaborate cross-functionally with data engineers, data scientists and other stakeholders to streamline data integration processes, resolve data quality issues, and drive continuous improvement in reporting capabilities.

 

 Your qualifications are:

  • 5+ years of experience in a Data Engineer role working with Data Pipelines, databases, SQL, ETL, Airflow, Kubernetes
  • 3+ years of experience in Core Python and Exploratory Data Analysis using Python
  • 3+ years of experience in Advanced SQL
  • 3+ years of experience in public cloud (AWS or Similar)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or another quantitative field.
  • Experience in performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Strong analytical skills related to working with unstructured or “dirty” datasets.
  • Experience building processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata dependency, and workload management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with teammates in a highly collaborative environment and simultaneously be a self-starter with strong individual contributions
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
