Position Summary:

As an integral member of the Behavioral Science team, the Behavioral Research Scientist is responsible for supporting all research operations across the organization, including behavioral-specific research, user experience (UX) research, and the collaborative projects integrating behavioral science and artificial intelligence through Lirio’s Behavioral Reinforcement Learning Lab (BReLL), as well as designing and executing upon research projects that explore the effectiveness of Precision Nudging and identify design priorities. This role will support project management oversight of all past, current, and future research projects, and ensure research is conducted rigorously, ethically, and in accordance with Institutional Review Board requirements, where relevant. The Behavioral  Research Scientist will assist with and execute on research from conception to dissemination.

This is a remote role. Applicants must reside within the US full-time.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with study design, preparation, documentation, monitoring, evaluation, synthesizing, and compiling and presentation of results. 
  • Execute qualitative research (e.g., recruit participants, develop interview guides, conduct research sessions) and quantitative research (e.g., develop surveys, data processing, data analysis).
  • Construct, combine, clean, and properly document large datasets for analysis.
  • Manage administrative aspects of formal, user, and UX research such as vendor renewals, ethics training requirements, Institutional Review Board documentation, and survey platform administration.
  • Execute literature reviews (e.g., conduct literature searches, generate summaries, synthesize findings).
  • Assist with preparing research reports, briefs, presentation decks, manuscripts for peer review, and other external communications.
  • Interact effectively with behavioral science team on a day-to-day basis and work under tight deadlines to meet intervention development deadlines.
  • Balance responsibilities across multiple concurrent studies.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in psychology, behavioral economics, public health, or related field required
  • 3-5 years of experience with research coordination, administration, operationalization, and dissemination
  • Background in applying research insights to health preferred
  • Education in cross-cultural psychology or experience working in international contexts a plus
  • Strong research operations skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail
