Your role and your team: 

You will report directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Leader of Battery/Module Assembly and work closely with our Battery Assembly team. 

The Battery Assembly team is responsible for the manufacture of our state-of-the-art batteries which power the Lilium Jet. 

We are looking for an ambitious and experienced Manufacturing Engineer who applies Lilium’s revolutionary product ramp; business model into the development of very modern, automated and people-focused aircraft assembly factory. The “ Battery Module and Cell testing - Manufacturing Engineer” will be responsible for the definition, selection and introduction of manufacturing testing equipment and processes for the cell, module and pack.

The Manufacturing Engineering team is responsible for the absolute doable and capable realisation of the product design into manufacturing &  production testing solutions. This role is fundamental in building a new way of high volume production within a few years. You will provide the best process technology solutions and factory support to meet the design requirements and the business targets in accordance to the quality standards of EASA 21G and EN9100.

Development of requirements specification for inline battery cell, module and pack testing including  production charging and discharging infrastructure for end of line testing. You will work closely with the battery system engineers to specify and develop our production energy system verification and validation according to acceptable means of compliance like DO-311A.

The Manufacturing Engineer drives 4 key processes within Lilium from material supply up to component assembly:

(1) Capability acquisition of new technologies, systems and factories.

(2) Product introduction into the supply chain and domestic factories.

(3) Shop floor support & ramp; continuous improvement across the entire production network

(4) Specification & provision of Lean/4.0/SCADA/robotic solutions for a Lilium plant

 

Your Day to Day:

  • Lead technical and process improvement projects to secure the quality, delivery and
  • cost targets
  • Engage in a global network for technology acquisition, new product designs and modern production system solution for the components concerned
  • Support of development of series production processes and process standardization across departments

 

Your Profile:

Electrical engineering degree in automotive, electrical/power/mechatronics engineering, production and/or aerospace

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a Manufacturing Engineering and /or manufacturing projects for a Battery Module Assembly/Testing environment
  • Capable of an extended cross-functional way of working with a “end to end” mind-set.
  • Experience in implementing a production process from proof of concept to series production ramp up applying modern tools and a network of experts for testing technologies and processes
  • Strong knowledge of working in electrical labs and good practice of testing
  • Experience in working with multi-kW electrical systems and voltages above ELV to be qualified as an electrically skilled person (IEC 60050, DIN VDE 1000-10)
  • Experience in electrical and cell measurement equipment like high power supplies and loads, data acquisition systems, battery (cell) test systems
  • Experience/training in live working with hazardous voltages is a plus
  • Knowledge of battery systems, particularly Li-ion batteries is a plus
  • Experience in the automotive or aerospace field is a plus
  • Target-oriented, driven work style with analytic problem solving skills required
  • Specification of test benches for testing of electrical, electro-chemical, electro-mechanical components, including battery abuse tests Coordination, preparation, and execution inline production tests of battery cells, modules and packs as well as electric parts and components according to CS-23, DO-160, DO-311 and other standards, in-house and with partners
  • Support of production planning and end-of-line test setup
  • Experience in use of electrical and cell measurement equipment
  • Experience in the automotive or aerospace field is a plus
