At LightStep, our mission is to deliver confidence at scale for those who develop, operate, and rely upon today’s powerful software applications. We created LightStep because we understand the massive architectural transformation underway in the software industry, and we saw an opportunity to accelerate it, all while improving the quality of the developer and end-user experience. While we learned a great deal from our experiences building Dapper (Google’s distributed tracing solution) and Monarch (Google’s high-availability metrics solution), LightStep is in many ways a reaction to and a generational improvement beyond those approaches. Our story as individuals and as a company revolves around continuous learning, careful listening, and the belief that these fundamentally new software architectures require fundamentally new solutions.
If you’re excited about the intersection of open source and production-quality enterprise software, we’d love to talk to you. We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager to help coordinate and drive LightStep’s contributions to open source, very much focused on the growth and success of the OpenTelemetry community and support of our established OpenTracing community. We’re looking for someone who understands how to bridge the open source software model to the creation of enterprise-ready, production-quality value. We’re looking for someone who is excited to be at the center of this evolving space of observability and who helps to help shape how people develop the next generation of software.
As part of our San Francisco based team, you’ll work with your fellow product managers on our overall product strategy with a particular emphasis on our open source efforts. We’ll work together to ensure the open source community and our end users alike have a delightful experience in using the software we help create.
You’d be a great addition if…
You’re excited about open source and its ability to deliver large-scale, production-quality value
You understand the developers, their goals, and the importance of open source communities
You want to be part of a fast-moving product team at the forefront of an evolving part of the industry
You enjoy working closely with engineers to dive into the details of languages, platforms, and tech stacks
Bonus points if…
You’ve helped build an open source or product community before
You have prior experience with enterprise software and software at scale
You looking for an opportunity to be part of super fun team :)
