Lightspeed is seeking a Legal Counsel (m/f/d) on a full-time basis to serve as a key strategic partner to its growing DACH operations. The ideal candidate is ambitious, self-motivated, possesses strong organizational skills, has at least 4 years of broad corporate transactional, commercial and HR-related experience gained in a fast-paced, preferably international, environment. Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel for Europe, this is your chance to play a key role in building out the DACH legal function of an extremely fast-paced, growing international technology company.

Responsibilities: 

  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts for large customers, strategic partners, resellers and suppliers, primarily but not exclusively for the DACH region;
  • serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders including the Sales, Marketing, Product Development, Support, Accounts Receivables, Finance, Human Resources, and Information Technology teams.
  • assist with litigation management, employment matters, M&A and similar transactions, corporate legal requirements, data protection and other compliance matters;
  • develop, draft, revise, administer, implement and interpret the company’s compliance policies, procedures and programs;
  • liaise with regulatory bodies and government authorities as required;
  • participate in the training of colleagues and stakeholder groups;
  • provide ad hoc analysis and support on complex, cross-functional and / or multi-jurisdictional projects and special requests from the executive team.

Requirements:

  • Fully qualified German lawyer (or equivalent);
  • 4+ years of experience in a law firm and/or as in-house counsel
  • professional-level proficiency in both German and English languages, including legal writing
  • experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts, terms and conditions
  • strong knowledge of commercial and contract law
  • comfortable communicating with colleagues and stakeholders on different levels and with different professional backgrounds. 

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified German lawyer (Volljurist) (or equivalent)
  • 4+ years of experience in a law firm and/or as in-house counsel
  • Professional-level proficiency in both German and English languages, including legal writing
  • Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts, terms and conditions
  • Strong knowledge of Commercial and Contract and Labor law
  • Comfortable communicating with colleagues and stakeholders on different levels and with different professional backgrounds

Assets:

  • Experience working in an international environment, across different jurisdictions and languages;
  • knowledge of and experience with GDPR and cybersecurity matters;
  • experience working with cloud-based software and payments providers;
  • knowledge of and experience with IP, Fiscal, Corporate and/or Labor Law.
