Overview
Lightship is the premier provider of enterprise level, technology enabled direct-to-patient clinical research. In this capacity, Lightship functions as a telemedicine-enabled site within a research study, which makes research participation possible for patients through the use of technology and home visits by our nurses.
Lightship is seeking a savvy and enthusiastic clinical research professional experienced in executing business landscape research and project budgeting analyses to join our team as Business Analyst, Clinical Research. The candidate should have experience in clinical research and possess a background in navigating the applicable financial aspects. This individual will work in a pivotal role, collaborating with various departments across Lightship to develop study budgets, help shape design proposals, and conduct due diligence to support projects as needed.
This position is remote. A successful candidate will possess a willingness and desire to work independently without significant oversight. Additionally, this position may require minimal travel – approximately 2-3 days per month.
You will be responsible for:
Business partnership support and due diligence
- Preparing routine and specialized business analysis reports, summaries, PowerPoint decks, or similar deliverables
- Conducting analyses and proposal comparisons to support business partnership deals
- Supporting internal stakeholder alignment and updates across proposals
- Documenting and tracking decisions during the proposal process
- Updating sales CRM systems and generating productivity reports
- Informing the evolution of our CRM systems use and helping to continuously improve internal process accordingly
Budgeting activities and supporting project budget/proposal development
- Developing a well-rounded understanding of Lightship’s strategy and operating model to support budgeting and costing activities
- Reviewing clinical trial protocols and generating budgets/high level estimates
- Tracking budget changes and rationale throughout the lifecycle of bid negotiations
- Serving as a resource for budget justification; providing detail that is sufficient to justify the rationale for the budget overlay
- Working closely with various Lightship teams to develop research rates and budgeting workflows, as needed
- Developing budget templates and other tools to optimise the building out and management of project budgets
- Collaborating with finance and legal on budget development and contracting
- Other related responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or healthcare-related field
- 3+ years of experience in clinical trial support
- Committed, agile, and thoughtful analyst
- Experience in budgeting in clinical research
- Experience in interpretation of clinical protocols for budget development
- Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software tools to interpret, communicate, and present information in a clear, concise, and understandable manner
- Conducts independent research
- Ability to digest a breadth of information and prepare summary reports
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced start-up environment
- Ability to program Excel for budgeting purposes
- Ability to multitask and prioritise workload
- Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively across teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail
