The Role

We’re looking for a Vice President - Head of Business Development to lead the national Business Development team as we grow from 50 hotels today to 150+ by year-end 2022. In this role, you will oversee a growing team of SDRs & BDRs focused on building relationships with existing hotel owners across the United States and closing management transition deals to expand our national portfolio of independent hotels. As the VP of Business Development, you will be responsible for setting the broader Business Development team strategy, mentoring & training the team (with the support of Sales Operations), and monitoring team KPIs. Our ideal candidate has a data-driven sales mindset, and experience driving predictable and exponential growth. 

 

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the Business Development team, overseeing the end-to-end sales activities & KPIs for existing hotel management transitions 
  • Set the broader business development strategy & tactics to achieve quarterly growth targets
  • Guide the development of micro-strategies to “win” existing markets and enter new ones 
  • Build & maintain high-profile relationships with independent hotel owners, investing especially in relationships with owners of multiple properties / those interested in acquiring new hotels
  • Work closely with the Managing Director of Sales and the Director of GTM Strategy & Sales Operations to empower the business development team to convert, and fully optimize the existing owner sales funnel

 

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5-10 years of experience in enterprise sales or growth oriented role, with a demonstrated track record of leading successful sales/business development organizations 
  • Prior experience working in hospitality and/or real estate, or adjacent industries
  • A existing understanding of hotel operations, while acknowledging that the industry standard today is suboptimal & that we can add value by doing things differently
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, collaborative, and entrepreneurial environment 
  • Executive-level written and verbal communication skills, including an understanding of hotel industry jargon (critical for effective communication with existing hotel owners)
  • Excellent leadership skills and experience coaching & motivating teams
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly (including efficiently ramping-up on our products & services)
  • Highly organized and autonomous, with effective time management skills
  • Willing to travel as needed up to 15-25% of the time, although we’re big believers in video calls
