The Role:
Technology Development at Life Edit Therapeutics discovers and establishes CRISPR genome editing capabilities through protein and RNA engineering and optimization. We also contribute to early therapeutic leads that support internal and external programs for curative gene and cell therapies. We are looking for an experienced scientist with a strong background in CRISPR engineering and therapeutics to lead our protein engineering projects aiming to deliver effective genome editors for downstream therapeutic programs. This is an exciting opportunity to grow leadership skills, contribute to the making of genetic medicines that impact patients’ lives, and help build a successful therapeutics company from an early stage.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
- Guide the strategy and direction of engineering CRISPR genome editors for therapeutic targets.
- Provide expertise in establishing and executing high throughput platforms for protein and/or guide RNA engineering that improve activity and specificity of genome editing both in vitro and in vivo.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams and program managers to achieve project milestones on time.
- Mentor junior scientists both in conducting successful engineering projects and in career development.
- Analyze experimental results and communicate data at internal and external research meetings.
- Contribute to publications and patent applications.
- Follow advancements in the field of gene editing and gene therapy published in the literature and presented at conferences.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related field that involves using gene editing systems for therapeutic genome editing.
- 10+ years post-graduate relevant experience with 4+ years in industry that directly involves engineering and optimizing gene editing systems for therapeutic programs.
- Experiences in high throughput screening and selection-based directed evolution for protein and guide RNA engineering in bacterial and/or mammalian cells.
- Experience in early discovery in a CRISPR-based gene and cell therapy company is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team and collaborate in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
