About the Job

As a Copy Director (“Manager”), you'll maintain consistency and guide the evolution of voice across in-house brands. You'll oversee the development of all customer-facing messaging, from brand messaging to UX copy, growth channels, and marketing content. This position reports to the Creative Director and will have a meaningful impact on the brand during a period of exciting growth and expansion.

This person will be responsible for guiding creative strategy and developing a brand voice for Life360 & Tile brands, and marketing campaigns, they will lead a team of copywriters, assign resources and lead copy assignments evolving the brand voice across multiple channels, including direct response (gaining new consumers), CRM efforts through push/email (retaining and recapturing consumers), and organic and paid social content (creating brand love and awareness). You will partner closely with our brand designers and motion designers, as well as our operations team, product team, and marketing partners. This person will be looking at every project as an opportunity to bring the brand to life and support a product that eases people’s daily lives.

You will be responsible for both the creative and professional development of the team: fostering a fun, safe, and inspiring environment for creativity. 

You are a resourceful problem solver, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and are as interested in storytelling as you are in the granular details of adverbs and oxford commas. You have an amazing portfolio and a passion for helping others become successful copywriters, leading by example -- solving creative problems using strategy, handling occasional chaos well, communicating effectively, and remaining calm under pressure.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead a team of copywriters, assign projects, and develop the careers of brand creative and product writers.
  • Develop creative strategies for key internal partners to tell our brand story and drive consumer growth and loyalty.
  • Model exceptional performance as a copywriter yourself, overseeing copywriting projects from concept to completion.
  • Responsible for guiding creative strategy and developing a brand voice for both Life360 & Tile brands
  • Create innovative, well-crafted stories for display, eCommerce, DTC, social, video, and campaigns. You should be able to balance the big picture with exceptional detail and business results.
  • Respond to and resource daily requests for copy assignments.
  • Build (with partnership from Creative Director and Creative Ops) copy process and tools to assist with storing and sharing copy to partners.
  • Pursue knowledge of (and share) best practices, trends, and consumer insights.
  • Develop strong relationships across the organization to gain an understanding of business needs and facilitate cross-functional collaboration.
  • Understand and articulate how the work responds to the goals of the creative brief and advances the brand and the business to senior leadership.
  • Prepare the extended team for creative presentations and champion the work of the creative org.

What We’re Looking For

  • 8+ years of experience as a copywriter in advertising, brand strategy, and/or marketing.
  • 2-3 years managing direct reports. 
  • Experience architecting and maintaining brand voice & tone guidelines. 
  • Solid understanding of the marketing funnel with proven ability and excitement for creating engaging and persuasive copy content for a variety of marketing channels, including brand campaigns, advertising, email, eComm, DTC, and social media.
  • Comfortable maintaining cross-functional relationships and supporting the development of briefs that meet marketing goals within brand frameworks.
  • Experience writing UX copy, naming products, and partnering with cross-functional teams. 
  • Familiar with both display and audio copy, specifically, the dynamic differences between the written and spoken word.
  • A collaborative nature with a knack for bringing people together.
  • Must be flexible, self-motivated, highly organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Self-starter who can manage multiple workstreams, and react quickly in a fast-paced environment with tight timelines. 
  • Ability to self-manage timelines and day-to-day progress of all in-flight messaging projects from start to finish.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written/verbal communication, and critical thinking skills.
  • Exceptional presentation skills and the ability to respond in a thoughtful way to a broad range of creative and business leaders.
