Who are we (Team)
We are the Engineering team. We exist to build the products and automation that will drive Liberis’ exponential growth in the embedded finance market. There are 80 of us based around the UK, we split ourselves into domain aligned teams working on a specific part of our product offering: Merchant Experience, Partner Experience, Internal Tooling, Funding, Decisioning, Pricing, & Targeting; as well as across a few supporting functions: DevEx, Data, Architecture, & support.
Our mission is to build composable, modular technology platforms that will close the global SME funding gap. We are collaborative (with each other, and with our users), and we value moving fast by fixing things.
Who are you? (The role)
You are an expert in AI, that has strong scientific understanding, as well as scalable production level engineering skill set. You have created and managed AI projects, can ensure suitable workflow and tooling, have a framework on evaluating value vs effort vs confidence, and work collaboratively with product and business to contribute intentionally and structurally toward organisational KPIs.

Responsibilities
- Create and maintain a repository of possible and current AI use cases, their requirements, possible impact and chance of success.
- Work with the product/domain team to create an integrated road map of delivery
- Create experiments and develop prototypes, with the goal of developing robust and efficient production-ready software
- Drive technical projects forward, holding a tremendous amount of responsibility and direct impact to the business.
- Build internal and utilise external tools that will increase the productivity of teams leveraging the ML/AI-based systems
- Build demos, guidance documentation, and assist with training to help increase proficiency for our internal/external customers
We think you’ll need
- Good project management skills, with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within scope
- Strong fundamentals in programming, statistics, mathematics, and ML algorithms (neural networks, tree-based methods, optimizers, super/unsupervised learning, feature engineering, etc.). Strong experience with Python required
- Strong understanding of the ML/DS frameworks (XGBoost, Scikit-learn, Pandas, Numpy, etc.), and modular/modern OOP software design practices
- Strong understanding of good development practice and process with source version control software, e.g., Git
- Good development awareness regarding memory, disk I/O, and CPU/GPU management.
- Experience with a modern ML/Data/Cloud engineering technical stack
- Detail oriented with excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experienced in mentoring more junior team members.
Additionally, we would love to see
- Experience with Google Cloud, Vertex AI, Big Query, Airflow is a strong plus
- Experience on delivering successful risk (default, exposure, loss) models
- Excellent business acumen and ability to understand and solve complex business problems
