We are looking for an engineering manager that is comfortable taking a high degree of ownership of our engineering team's direction and management. Beyond a strong management, engineering, data, and product background, a successful candidate will have experience successfully working on unstructured problems, building scalable engineering frameworks for engineering teams, adaptability to changing roadmaps, and experience hiring, interviewing, and recruiting engineers.


  • Ensure there is a clear shared vision for the engineering team and a roadmap on how to get there
  • Manage the day-to-day workload of engineers alongside product managers
  • Partner with design and product management to implement new features and product enhancements
  • Provide feedback and guidance on engineering architecture choices
  • Coach engineers in their technical and professional development
  • Collaborate closely with recruiting and other engineering managers to expand the team, including sourcing candidates, interviewing candidates, and onboarding new employees


  • Familiarity with modern programming languages (i.e. JavaScript, React, Node)
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience at startups or tech companies
  • 2+ years of engineering management experience at startups or tech companies
  • Strong analytical skills, with excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Willing and able to dive into the code yourself if necessary
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be willing to work onsite in our San Francisco, CA office post COVID restrictions


  • Working knowledge of the saving/investing/lending/fintech space
  • Experience at high-growth, venture-backed startups or top tier technology companies
