Legend Biotech entered into a global collaboration agreement with Janssen Biotech, Inc. to develop, manufacture and commercialize ciltacabtagene autoleucel (cilta-cel). Through our strategic partnership, we look to advance the promise of an immunotherapy in the treatment of multiple myeloma.

Role Overview:

This position will be responsible for providing operational excellence support to the cGMP Clinical and commercial cell therapy manufacturing plant. This person will partner with all departments across the organisation in support of personalized cell therapy production through safe and compliant manufacturing operations according to cGMP requirements. The role will require proven facilitation and project management skills that drive effective communication, coordination and collaboration across relevant cross functional groups to establish a strong continuous improvement and problem solving culture and project management to enable robust production , testing and release to patients

Major Responsibilities

  • Supports and leads by example in driving an effective holistic Operational Excellence program to improve lead times and reliability in delivery to patients
  • Leads implementation of assigned OpEx initiatives
  • Uses lean and six sigma methodologies such as 5S, standard work, visual management, Kanban, pareto and others in support of defining, measuring, analyzing, improving and controlling improvement initiatives
  • Supports training and awareness of OpEx tools and methodologies
  • Keeps overview of all site improvement projects & ensure alignment with the site resources and strategy together with the OpEx Lead
  • Identify initiatives and savings potential, using data & fact-based methods
  • Capture improvement initiatives together with the OpEx lead and create the related implementation plan
  • Makes sure key successes are celebrated
  • Managing relationship with Line Leadership (LT, Managers and supervisors) for the managed improvement projects
  • Builds and maintains strong working relationships with peers across the organization

Qualification

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Operations, Biology, Chemistry or other similar, relevant disciplines.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years in Industrial Operations environment; -of which 2 years of experience in Pharma.
  • Command of change management issues and methodologies at senior leadership level would be a strong plus
  • Knowledge and experience within Car-T processing – highly preferred

Key Capabilities, Knowledge, and Skills:  

  • Is able to independently identify, build and manage projects from ‘zero’: discover needs, find resources, create a plan,…, follow up implementation and report progress
  • Experience working on transformation initiatives in an industrial environment would be a strong plus, including familiarity with common lean, project or quality methodologies (i.e. flow analysis, Six Sigma, etc.)
  • Experience in problem solving methodology and tools
  • Experience in coaching and change management skills
  • Is able to engage, motivate and lead teams across multiple levels of the organization
  • Coach and give feedback, empower people & develop people in OpEx
  • Transversal collaboration 
  • Role model the OpEx behaviors
  • Act for Change - Show a healthy dissatisfaction with the status quo and display a drive/passion for continuous improvement
  • Uses escalation paths appropriately to help ensure impact
