Description
Leap Motion is seeking a Field Applications Engineer to provide technical expertise and value to our customers, especially those in Greater China/Asia. The Field Applications Engineer will be required to support a broad range of customers, technologies and suppliers and will be asked to provide support regarding current and emerging VR/AR technologies.
The primary responsibilities of the Field Applications Engineer will be to:
Develop and Maintain Technical Customer Relationships
- Identify customer requirements and efficiently communicate them to our engineering team and suppliers
- Provide engineering design support to facilitate fast and easy adoption of our products
- Provide R&D engineering support to our customers
- Address quality issues by interfacing with our customers, global suppliers, and San Francisco engineering team
- The FAE may be required to travel up to 50% of the time, both domestic and international
Provide Technical Expertise
- Work closely with the sales and program management teams to secure design wins and opportunities
- Provide customer feedback to internal technical and sales teams
- Understand and communicate the evolution of the VR/AR market and emerging and relevant technologies
Engineering Development
- Assist with the development and growth of our company and our engineering resources including personnel and equipment
- Write and publish application notes and technical papers
- Provide input for product planning, new product feature and process improvements
- Provide technical training for our team and for our customers
- Technical support for trade show and marketing efforts
Required Skills
- Experience designing, selecting and/or designing VR/AR or mobile devices
- Ability to develop and maintain customer relationships and technical projects
- Capacity to comprehend and relay highly technical information
- Expertise in firmware, and embedded systems software and tools
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and 3D modeling
- Ability to work in a team environment
Required Experience and Education
- BS/MS in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in design and/or applications engineering
- Minimum 2 years’ experience Applications Engineering (preferably in VR/AR or mobile devices)
- Native Chinese fluency, advanced English language proficiency
Preferred Skills or Experience
- Experience as an engineer with VR/AR technologies or an OEM manufacturer of VR/AR devices
- Experience with electronics including systems, products, or components
- Previous experience interfacing with American or European customers
- Design experience (including FPGA, ASIC, ASSP, CPU, or DSP), or extensive digital design, embedded system design (hardware and software)
- System level design experience
