Learning and Development Specialist
Summary:
This role will support all 12 brands of Great Day Home Improvement. We are looking for a Learning and Development Specialist to develop and facilitate effective delivery of programs throughout the organization. The goal of this professional is to support the design and development of learning content to facilitate learners in acquiring knowledge, skills and competencies in an effective and appealing manner. Candidates will also coordinate efforts in the organization learning management system. The right candidate will be confident in their decision making and provide data-backed recommendations for the brand’s instructional strategy. This role is responsible for being the curriculum design expert and will work closely with the SME’s across the business to make decisions and troubleshoot areas of concern. This role is remote to the following states: Ohio, Minnesota, NJ, and Florida.
Essential Functions:
- First point of contact to respond to general UFactor inquiries or direct to appropriate area, including responding to general email inbox; assist stakeholders with event registration, course completion, technical requirements.
- Create engaging and interactive learning activities and compelling course content, instructional materials and curriculum that enhances retention and transfer of knowledge.
- Work with subject matter experts and identify target audience’s training needs.
- Partners to develop training programs that help with company culture, pride in our company and products and that helps to reduce turnover.
- Works collaboratively to automate, innovate, and streamline business processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness within the department. Considers digital applicability and potential in all business processes.
- Plan events to support learning and development.
- Assist the design instructional end goals and create content that matches them.
- Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product.
- Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts.
- Apply tested instructional design theories, practice and methods.
- Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process.
- Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc.)
- Decide on the criteria used to evaluate learner’s performance and develop assessment instruments.
- Maintain project documentation and course folders.
- Analyze learning data and feedback to continuously improve instructional materials and enhance learner engagement.
- Manage multiple instructional design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project timelines and budgets.
- Stay current on Learning trends and learning management tools.
- Other projects and duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models.
- Lesson and project planning skills.
- Solid knowledge of course development software and at least one Learning Management System.
- Ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively; self-motivated and ability to organize to meet deadlines or competing priorities/projects.
- Ability to influence and work in a collaborative work environment that is focused on results.
- Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts.
Education and Experience:
- BS or MA degree in human resources, education, instructional design or similar.
- Experience with learning platforms preferred.
- Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Elucidat or other instructional design platform experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting working on a computer
