Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll collaborate with the board, leadership team, and external partners to propel organizational priorities forward. What You’ll Do:

  • Lead Strategic Planning: Develop, operationalize, and refine the organization’s strategic plan, ensuring alignment with Leading Educators’ mission and long-term goals. Implement systems to track progress, evaluate outcomes, and adapt strategies as needed.
  • Foster Organizational Alignment: Promote cross-departmental collaboration to enhance efficiency, drive consistency, and build shared accountability for achieving strategic priorities.
  • Engage Stakeholders and the Board: Serve as the primary liaison to the board of directors, aligning organizational performance with strategic goals. Build and nurture relationships with external stakeholders, including funders and partners, to expand visibility and impact.
  • Champion Change Management: Lead organization-wide change initiatives with transparency, fostering staff engagement and ensuring sustainable implementation. Cultivate a culture of adaptability, creativity, and continuous improvement.
  • Enhance Internal Communications: Oversee internal communication strategies to promote transparency, alignment, and engagement across all levels of the organization. Partner with the CEO to design and deliver high-impact communications for both internal and external audiences.

Who You Are:

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A strategic leader with 8–10 years of experience in strategy, operations, or organizational management, including at least 5 years in senior leadership roles.
  • A proven track record of developing and implementing organizational strategies that align with mission-driven goals and drive measurable outcomes.
  • Exceptional project management skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands, manage complex initiatives, and deliver results on time and within budget.
  • Outstanding relationship management skills with experience engaging with boards, funders, and external partners to achieve organizational goals.
  • Proficient in analyzing data and using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to inform decision-making and assess progress toward strategic objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to create compelling presentations and reports for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change, foster cross-functional collaboration, and build a culture of continuous improvement.

Nice-to-Have Skills and Experience:

  • Advanced degree in business, education, public administration, or a related field.
  • Experience managing internal communications at a strategic level, including leading teams to design and implement communication strategies that engage and inspire staff.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit organizations and an understanding of the challenges and opportunities in mission-driven work.

Travel Requirements

This is a remote position that requires up to 30% travel

  • National travel may be required for organizational retreats, board meetings, Leadership Team gatherings, programming events, job-related travel, donor engagements, or professional development opportunities.
  • Outside of the above mentioned travel, this person will work from a home office that must be located anywhere within the U.S.

Benefits

  • Compensation: The compensation range for this position is between $119,527, with a midpoint of $155,384, and a maximum of $191,241  annually. Candidates, either newly hired or new to the role, can typically expect a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications and internal equity.
  • Benefits: 100% paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for individual employees. Additional premium costs are covered 60% by Leading Educators for partners and dependents on medical, dental, and vision plans. 4% matching 401k plan, Flexible Spending Accounts for medical, childcare and commuter expenses, and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Benefits are valued at or above $9,000 for employees.
  • Time Off: 
    • First three years of employment, full time staff accrue 22 days a year. 
    • Five additional days are accrued after the third and sixth year of employment.
    • Leading Educators also offer 16 additional paid days off for various holidays, including three floating holidays staff may use at their discretion.
