About the Position

You'll report to the VP of Engineering. We’re a growing team that’s rapidly building and iterating on software built on AWS with React, Node, and other technologies. We’re currently a globally distributed team (United States & Nepal), so you’ll need to be comfortable collaborating across multiple time zones. We do try to work asynchronously as much as possible, but some early morning meetings (7 AM ET) are likely.

Even though you’ll generally be working remotely, we are ideally looking for someone who lives within commuting distance to Boston, MA or Miami, FL for this role for as-needed, in-person collaboration.

Additionally, we do get together in person for team/company retreats a few times per year. There may also be opportunities to travel to Nepal 1-2 times per year for deeper collaboration with some of our engineering team colleagues.

Responsibilities

As a Staff Software Engineer at Laudio, your responsibilities will include:

  • Software Architecture - you’ll design, develop, and deploy code with a focus on high availability, low latency, and scalability.
  • Hands-on Technical Contributions - a large part of this role will be writing code as an individual contributor across the stack in order to advance our product and engineering roadmaps.
  • Technical Mentorship - we value our culture where we help each other learn and grow. You’ll be participating in code reviews and technical design sessions.
  • Thought Leadership - we’re big on continuous improvement. We’d love for you to share your ideas on where we can improve, both technically as well as operationally.
  • Being Glue - we’re still a relatively small team, so we’ll need you to be comfortable working across a variety of initiatives. This could include contributing to new projects, designing new features, optimizing and refactoring code, researching new technologies, responding to production issues, or modifying infrastructure.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

  • 5+ years of experience as a technical leader
  • Comfort with leading iterative development initiatives from ideation through implementation
  • Extensive experience making hands-on technical contributions as a senior software engineer in an agile environment
  • Demonstrable experience with front-end technologies such as React, Angular, and Typescript
  • Demonstrable experience with back-end technologies such as Node.js or Python
  • Experience writing performant SQL, designing schema, and general working knowledge with relational databases
  • Building cloud-native solutions on platforms like AWS or Azure
  • Care about quality and knowledgeable about shipping high quality code

Who you are:

  • You are comfortable with a wide range of technologies
  • You are comfortable and capable of acting with autonomy
  • You stay current with the latest development best practices in your areas of expertise
  • You have experience working with modern infrastructure and tools
  • You know and care about sound engineering practices such as CI/CD, defensive programming, feature flags, and automated testing
  • You’re familiar with designing and building distributed and scalable systems

We’d be really excited if you have previous experience:

  • Integrating or interacting with HL7 or ADT feeds
  • Working at an early stage start-up
  • Working at a SaaS product company
  • Working remotely

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer in various environments with multiple distractions.
  • Must be able to travel.

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
