LastPass is looking for a Staff Software Engineer:

As a Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the security and privacy of user data, designing and implementing robust privacy features, and staying abreast of industry best practices and emerging threats.

Who will you work with?

You will collaborate with a diverse and talented cross-functional team to ensure privacy considerations are integrated into every LastPass product development and deployment aspect. Your interactions will span across various departments, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment, including Engineering, Security and Compliance, Product & UX teams, and Incident Response in Hungary, Portugal, and the United States of America.

What are some of the exciting challenges you will be working on? 

Privacy Feature Development

  • Building features and tooling for Privacy, Privacy Operations, and Assurance.
  • Collaborate with the engineering and security teams to seamlessly develop and integrate privacy-enhancing functionalities.
  • Establish and manage efficient processes for handling recurring customer privacy requests.

Security, Compliance, and Governance

  • Conduct technical reviews and champion Privacy by Design principles with Engineering to safeguard user data.
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments and ensure compliance with relevant data protection laws and regulations.
  • Perform regular audits and risk assessments to identify and address potential issues.

Anonymization and De-Identification

  • Develop and implement methods for anonymizing and de-identifying user data while maintaining usability and functionality.
  • Create and enforce protocols for securely handling sensitive information.

Incident Response 

  • Work closely with the incident response team to promptly investigate and resolve any privacy breaches within existing IRM processes along with the DPO/Legal teams.

What does it take to work at LastPass?

  • Background in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Privacy Engineer or in a similar role, with a focus on developing and implementing privacy features, ideally within a SaaS company.
  • Comprehensive understanding of cryptography, data protection laws, and privacy principles.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as PHP or C# and JavaScript/React.
  • Ability to design and implement solutions in accordance with security industry best practices, standards, and compliance frameworks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, collaborative mindset, and proactive attitude.
  • Effective communication abilities across diverse stakeholder groups with varying backgrounds and technical expertise within LastPass.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

It's great, but not required:

  • Certifications such as Certified Information Privacy Technologists (CIPT) or similar (CIPP, CIPM, or ISACA CDPSE).
  • Experience with privacy and system inventory tools, no-code automation systems
  • Experience working with global teams.
