You will be spending time on the following:

As a product engineer, writing code is just one part of your job. You'll also talk to users, get involved with design, and develop an opinion on what needs to exist in our product. Then you'll move with urgency to make it happen. For reference, here is a great article that explains the difference between a product engineer and a software engineer.

This involves:

  • Working with the product manager and product designer to identify problems and opportunities to then work on exploring solutions, including participating in calls with key customers to validate your assumptions on what to build.
  • Owning the frontend efforts from your team: You will be working on our core Lang product, aimed at Customer Experience teams. You will collaborate with your backend and data scientists folks.
  • Leading projects as the DRI, where you will be making sure we have a positive impact on our users. This involves collaborating with Product, Design, and the customer office team to make sure you have all the context you need.

Here's what we are looking for:

At its core, we are looking for a product engineer who can write code and ship features, with a special focus on caring about building a solution to problems that provide value to our users. In a nutshell, you care more about outcomes and impact than the exact implementation, or the tools used to solve the problem.

To succeed in this role, you will need to:

  • Have +3 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Have experience with React and understand how functional components, hooks and context work.
  • Create prototypes to help your team adjust our features in response to customer feedback.
  • Use tools that automate non-product work like infrastructure, integration, deployment, and testing.****
  • Have customer obsession: You care about the people and companies using Lang to build a better solution for them. You enjoy participating in a call with customers and understanding their problems.
  • Have a strong sense of ownership: We rely on DRIs (Direct Responsible Individuals) for every big project we work on. While the DRI is the individual who is ultimately held accountable for the success or failure of any given project, they are not necessarily the individual who does the tactical project work.
  • Develop opinions, be able to communicate them, and turn them into features: Be able to explain why a feature matters to customers as well as its importance in the product strategy.

How you work

You embody the following personal principles in the way you work:

  1. Curiosity - Natural curiosity stems from an ability to learn; given the nature of the organization and the continued need to scale, you need to be curious and willing to learn and grow every day
  2. Empathy - Sales aren’t easy or for the faint of heart. It comes with individual stressors and demands and it can cause some to feel the pressure of deadlines more than others. Having the empathy to understand an individual’s process and send back uplifting insight is critical. Without empathy, we can’t rely on each other to build better relationships– faster.
  3. Pragmatism/ Moving Fast - With successful time management and goal alignment, you can accelerate your days easier than starting at a blank slate each day. You are confident and pragmatic, so you spend the right amount of time doing tasks so that you can do as many as possible.
  4. Ownership -You need to know how to own and execute on your own and figure things out. You will own and be accountable for your monthly number of meetings and failing is not an option.

Bonus Points If...

  • You have experience with Typescript
  • You have experience with CSS pre-processors (we use Sass)
  • You have experience with E2E testing frameworks like Cypress
  • You can communicate fluently in English, both written and spoken. We have become a remote-first company, so we believe that being articulate in both spoken and written long-form asynchronous communication is key to working efficiently together.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary: We are looking for an L3 (47k-58k€) or an L4 (58k-65k€)** product engineer for this role. Compensation will be offered according to your experience and expectations.
  • Career plan where you can grow as a Frontend Product Engineer with monthly meetings with your manager to help you grow and improve.
  • Onsite company gatherings.
  • Remote-first environment with flexible working hours depending on personal commitments.
