BDC Fund Controller

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

 

Job Summary 

The team is seeking a BDC Controller to be responsible for all accounting functions for multiple BDCs. The position will oversee accounting research and accounting policies related to new and proposed accounting standards as well as ensuring compliance with existing guidance under US GAAP. This position will also assist with the implementation, maintenance and review of internal controls over financial reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Review and manage all month-end close activities, including review of journal entries and reconciliations for various balance sheet and income statement accounts, and review of month-end results against forecast
  • Prepare and/or review of supporting details for SEC filings (i.e. Form 10-K/Qs)
  • Liaison with finance department, Administrator, internal and external legal counsels and external independent auditors
  • Manage streamlining and process improvement projects, enhancing the internal controls over accounting systems, processes, metrics, and reporting
  • Manage others, including staff accountant(s) and help grow the finance function as the company scales
  • Assists with the review and preparation of the quarterly and annual earnings release. Assists in the preparation of materials for the Audit Committee and Board of Directors
  • Review capital call/distribution analyses and coordinate with TA and Investor Services
  • Monitor compliance with BDCs’ various credit facilities and reporting requirements
  • Monitor compliance with the quarterly SEC and IRS asset and income tests applicable to BDCs

Requirements

  • Experience: 7 to 11 years
  • CPA with accounting/SEC reporting experience within BDC industry, must understand the operational workings of a BDC
  • Self-starter able to manage a significant workload and balance competing high priority tasks in a startup environment
  • Proven managerial track record
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Extensive experience in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong academic credentials – Bachelor’s Degree is required
