Head of Data, Fan Engagement:

LA28 is looking for a strategic and innovative Head of Data, Fan Engagement to join the Digital Engagement Marketing team. 

The Head of Data, Fan Engagement role will lead LA28’s data initiatives and drive the data strategy and management of fans. This person will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity, security, and efficiency of LA28’s data infrastructure. A successful candidate will be obsessed with evaluating, managing, and enhancing the LA28 fan experience to ensure all data collected comply with data privacy regulations and all data policies are implemented. This person will be a key protector of the LA28 brand and a key contributor in building a legacy for the Olympic and Paralympic Movement through the lens of the fans and athletes.

This is a results-focused role for a hands-on person who is driven to create tangible outputs with cross-functional teams, and who is at ease being a brand steward of the LA28 brand. He/she/they will report to the Sr. Director, Marketing and Brand Engagement. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Strategy Development: Define and implement a comprehensive data governance strategy aligned with LA28’s goals and industry best practices
  • Data Management: Oversee data management processes, including data acquisition, storage, quality, and lifecycle management, ensuring data is reliable and accessible for stakeholders
  • Contract Negotiation: In collaboration with Legal and Technology teams, be a key leader in data agreement development and participate in business negotiations with key stakeholders
  • Governance Framework: In collaboration with Legal and Technology teams, establish a data governance framework that outlines policies, standards, and procedures for data usage, management, and compliance
  • Collaboration and Leadership: Lead and represent MarTech Steerco to promote data literacy and advocate for data-driven decision-making across all levels of LA28
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders such as USOPC, IOC, and LA28 partners to understand data needs and ensure alignment with overall objectives
  • Performance Metrics: Develop and manage KPIs to assess data management effectiveness and drive continuous improvement
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to relevant data protection regulations and industry standards, maintaining high ethical standards in data usage
  • Innovation and Trends: Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in data management and analytics, identifying opportunities for innovation that can enhance organizational capabilities.

Background & Requirements:

  • 10+ years of data strategy, governance, and management experiences ideally in a B2C environment
  • Must be an expert in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Data Cloud, and OneTrust
  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality management, and data protection regulations 
  • Highly analytical and collaborative qualities with strong technical, strategic, and problem-solving skills
  • Passionate about data security and keeping up with industry standards including but not limited to data privacy and accessibility requirements 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Self-starter who is highly passionate about the Olympic and Paralympic movement
  • Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB)

Physical Requirements

  • The majority of work may be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment
  • Must be capable of maintaining focus and attention to detail during long periods of analysis and strategic planning
  • Work hours may vary but our office is currently working on a hybrid 4-day a week in office model

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field, advanced degree preferred

 

The annual base salary range for this position is $150,000.00 - $170,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
